Studio Policy

“Whether you wish to challenge an audition, ace a music test, or just pick up a new hobby, I’d
love to engage in music making with you. Together, we will connect through personalized lesson
plans oriented to meet your goals and passions.” – Natassia Stelatos
Teaching Philosophy
I borrow much of my pedagogical methods from my instructors as well as authors including
Barry Green (Inner Game of Music) and Susan Hallam (Music Psychology in Education).
Inclusivity of all learning abilities is extremely important to me as an educator. In this feat, I
draw on my educational background in behavioral/developmental psychology, and my
pedagogical studies of music education to better understand the needs of my students.
My teaching philosophy incorporates principles of music psychology to enhance the learning
experience and promote musical growth. I believe in nurturing emotional connections to the
music, fostering motivation, addressing performance anxiety through mindfulness techniques,
and teaching effective cognitive skills and practice strategies. I ultimately aim to create a holistic
and enriching musical experience for my students, enabling them to become expressive,
confident, and lifelong musicians.
Teaching Schedule
Private lessons will take place weekly, scheduled on a consistent day/time of the week.
Generally, lessons will NOT be held on statutory holidays or other religious holidays. I am
willing to teach after school hours during the week and any time during the weekend.
Lessons will be held either at my home or online via Zoom.
Attendance Expectations
It is crucial to be on time to your lessons.
- Student should come to lessons prepared to the best of their abilities.
- Student should practice what we are working on in between lessons.

Weekly payments via e-transfer or cash. First lesson is free to see if we are a good fit for each
other.

Missed Lessons/Cancelation Policy
There is no cancelation fee. I just ask that you politely let me know in advance if you are
planning on missing a lesson and we can reschedule.
Discontinuation Policy

advance.
Required Materials
My studio is equipped with music stands, a metronome, and music which I am open to lend out
temporarily while you are awaiting the purchase of your own. A few things you are required to
bring to your lesson are:
- Your own flute (feel free to bring your piccolo too if you have one)
- A notebook
- Required method books and repertoire
- Water bottle (optional)

Goals & Examinations
Upon first meeting, we will discuss what your personal goals and motives are for wanting to
learn the flute. If you have performances or examinations upcoming, I am open to guide you on
your path to success.
Parental Involvement
Parents are welcome to wait in my living room during the lesson but are not permitted to be
inside the lesson room unless otherwise arranged.
