Word limit 100 words It MUST be written in paragraph form.

Marks awarded - 5mks.

Structuring the Plan of Investigation

1st ✓ You MUST state why your group chose the topic that was chosen
Paragraph
✓ You must give a reason for choosing the sub topic you chose. 3mks
Your reason MUST be developed,
• It must be a reason showing that some thought went into coming up with your sub
topic.
• The reason should show a benefit of looking at the particular sub topic your chose.

Phrases that can be used are

• It is a current social issue that impacts a lot of people.

• It is an issue that directly affects my age group.
• It is an international issue /problem.
• It is a very interesting topic currently in the news and I wanted to learn more about
it.
• It is an area I’ve always had a fascination with and wanted to explore more in depth.

2nd You must say WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED BENEFITS to YOU AS A
Paragraph STUDENT OF ENGLISH. Some of the benefits are:
• Expansion of your vocabulary
• Understanding and explaining literary devices
• Identify different genres.
• Develop and improve your editing skills
• Improve your summary writing skills
• Improve your persuasive writing and speaking skills
• Improve your organizational skills
Mention 3 of the above ( in order to get full marks) - 3mks

(1) You must state HOW you intend to collect relevant information
3rd and what TYPES of pieces /artefacts you are looking for .(2mks)
Paragraph
• You need to name 3 types ( see note on types of pieces).
If you DO NOT name 3 types you will not get the mark ( 1mk)

• You need to state 3 sources to get material ( see sample)

If you do not state 3 you will not get the mark .(1mk)

(2) You need to say how the skills you stated in par 2 will be used in
the sba.
You need to say where in the SBA will EACH OF the skills/benefits you stated in
paragraph 2 be used in your SBA. ( see sample) You need to mention at least 2
components of the Sba where it will be used to get the mark.
