1. Design a Circuit with Thyristor (SCR)
Working Principle
Silicon Controlled Rectifier

These are used to handle high power situation.

We can be turn it off but can’t it turn on, so they are half

controllable.

Two conditions are required to turn on the thyristor.

1. Anode should be connected to positive terminal of source and

cathode should be connected to negative terminal of source.

2. There should a pulse generator or a switch connected to Gate.

Designing a SCR Circuit with Thyristor Diode, AC Voltage source, Resistance
(Load) 10 ohms, a current pulse generator at [ amplitude: 10 , period : 0.02,
90
Pulse width : 5, Phase delay : ].

Fig of Simple SCR Circuit

The resulting waveform will be

As we can above the red lines, when the Pulse generator send’s a pulse
toward thyristor. What’s its reaction.
In First graph the voltage goes down across the AC source.
In Second graph it’s the time shown when pulse is sent.
In Third graph the Current falls to zero across the Thyristor.
In Fourth graph the voltage falls to zero across the load.
