LIFE IN A TIME CAPSULE

Hi, I am Rose, an escapist. When the thought of my goals in my life happens to cross my mind, I
cannot stop myself from being anxious about my future. Talking about that, my greatest fear in
life is becoming a disgrace, and I might have planned my life too often which led me to a phase
where I am slowly losing my focus.

Back when I was thirteen-year-old, I wrote on a paper filled with my aspirations for life, and I
place that paper inside my time capsule (which I’ll be opening ten years from now). Though it
might have been a while, I can still manage to recall the goals I’ve written which the first step is
to finish senior high school with pleasing marks that can help me get into any university I want
once I step into college. People—close friends, and relatives said to me not only once but many
times that I should not spend too much amount of money on college and go to a local school
instead. But, I would very much disagree. I mean, it is not their life, right? Sure, they do have a
teeny-tiny bit of right to say that in front of my face, however, they are not the ones who plan my
life. They are not the ones who will struggle at school fighting for the degree to accomplish their
dream career. The second step I have listed is once I get successful in life, I would take care of
myself by going to therapy because life has shattered me so much in getting the life I want since
I was a teen. And finally, the last step I could remember is to live with joy and contentment. Few
say that the definition of success is earning a large amount of money and having the freedom to
purchase anything, but for me, success is getting to live in solitude while being content and in
bliss.

To sum up everything that has been stated so far, (1) let only the closest friends know your plans
and motivations in life. (2) Take great care of yourself—physically, mentally, emotionally.
Spiritually, and financially because no one will hold you accountable for your life but you,
yourself. (3) Live and enjoy life. Forget their expectations—to be honest, step down on their
expectations of your life and let them mind their own business.
