Fix/Repair File Permissions

Some users who have used my Windows Repair tool reported there system not working right
after the repairs.
It turns out it was the file permissions causing the problem.

File permissions are stored in the file system on the drive. The users didn't do a chkdsk on the
drive before the repairs. Since the file permission where corrupted only the Administrator &
System from the repair tool was set. The repair tool doesn't remove permissions it only adds
them. But because the permissions where corrupted they got replaced.

As long as a user does a chkdsk on the drive any corrupt permissions get repaired and this
problem doesn't happen.

But if it does happen it is easy to fix and get the system working normally again.

Here is how to manually set the file permissions on a drive.

For Windows home users you will need to go into safe mode in order to get the security tab in
Windows.

If you login and you have no desktop or task bar you will need to manually start explorer.exe

Open the task manager and then go to file and new task.

Once you start explorer you will then open my computer, then right click on the C: drive and go
to properties.
Once the properties tab is open click on the security tab.
On the security tab click "Advanced" at the bottom.
In here you will click on "Everyone" then click "Edit"

Put a check on "Full Control" and the click OK.

Now put a check on replace permissions and click apply.

You will now see the progress. This is replacing all the permissions on the drive. If you get a
access denied error just click "Ignore All"
Once finished restart the computer and everything should be working normally again.
