The World Bank’s main goal is to reduce poverty worldwide through promoting economic

growth to create opportunities and enabling the poorest nations and their people to realize and
exploit these opportunities so as to increase the quality of their lives.

I have noted that the World Bank is a source of funding for developing nations whose primary
focus is on improving the quality of lives of the poorest people. Given the sense of importance to
the World Bank goals, I have always wanted to be part of such an organisation because I cannot
think of any other place that holds such importance to society as the World Bank. Therefore
being part of a research and development oriented organisation is a job experience I always love
to have.

As a native of a developing nation, I have come to appreciate the Word Bank effort towards
improving the marginalized nations and transforming the lives of the people. However, most
World Bank initiatives do not actually extend economic opportunities to the intended poorest
people mainly because of political intricacies and inherent corruption tendencies of our leaders.
My first achievement I hope will be to work with the World Bank towards eliminating the
political barriers preventing the poorest people from benefiting from initiatives of the World
Bank. In addition, being part of a development organization that strives to improve the quality of
life of our brothers and sisters is itself an achievement.

It is an experience I have always hoped will greatly enhance my professional experience and at
the same time enable me to contribute towards making the world a better place for the poorest
people.

I see this organization not only as a positive atmosphere workplace, but also this position is a
good opportunity where my skills and qualifications can make a difference to the many people
who are not benefiting from my skills in my present workplace. Clearly, I believe that this job
will help me to take another level of responsibility in my career.
