The Sustainability Principle

The basis of what this notion symbolizes are the concepts of

sustainability. This approach also promotes sustainability as a
strategy of avoiding a worldwide ecological calamity.
Examples: Zero Waste, The practice of Reduce,
Reuse and Recycle.

The Precautionary Principle

Governments have tended to concentrate their engagement on resolving
past or current harmful environmental impacts. However, events such as
the discovery of the ozone hole and worsening chemical contamination in
the ocean necessitated a more proactive approach, resulting in the
precautionary principle. If a product, action, or policy is suspected of
causing harm to the public or the environment, the precautionary principle
applies.
Examples: Food and Drug (requires all new drugs and foods
to be tested)

The Participation Principle

The participation concept highlights the general public's involvement as
a stakeholder in any environmental decision that may have an impact on
them. Participation is the active involvement of a group of people in a
collective process involving administrative authorities' real or intended
acts.
Examples: Public meetings and hearings, Interactive
workshops.
