SCRIPT FOR FEDEX ITC 2023 INTERVIEW

MIEL: As Tunicia Phillips (2021) states, Findings in


Global Forest Watch shows that from 2001 to 2020, South Africa lost 1.48
million hectares of tree cover

LANCE: That is also equivalent to a 25% decrease in tree cover since 2000 and
517 Mt of CO2 emissions.

MIEL: Good day everyone, I’am Norlenmiel Madera

BOTH: We are from Jose Panganiban National High School

MIEL: Our target market is South Africa where we can get almost all of the
residents in this country since our product can benefit everyone who uses
cooking fuel that is either for personal use or business usage.
South Africa faces a lot of problems. Deforestation, Climate change,
Waste management, and Air pollution are some of the main problems they
need to solve until now. Let us watch this short clip stated from Ms. Mbali
Mathabule, a local resident of Emalahleni in South Africa.

LANCE: So what is the solution? The solution is Fumea Eco-Charcoal. What is


Fumea? Fumea eco-charcoal is a biodegradable charcoal
briquette that can be an alternative source of cooking fuel using renewable
energy. It is made from cornstarch, water and rice straw activated carbon
(rice straw with a mixture of MgCl2). Also, the product promotes purifying
air while lessening carbon footprints since it will undergo carbonization
technology, specifically pyrolysis process that activates the carbon
contents of rice straw to lessen the carbon emissions.
MIEL: Because of this, we came up with different market strategies since we
know that this product has potential. For this part of the presentation we
are going to tackle the pricing strategy, promotional strategy, and
distribution strategy. Price estimation comes up by computing all of the
raw materials, labor, and equipment needed before applying a
competitor-based pricing strategy that is lower in cost than the other
brand.

LANCE: Second, promotional strategy. We came up with online promotion since it


is the main platform that our product can seek the attention of a large
number of consumers just like posting advertisement posters and making
websites as well as pages and accounts. Also, by partnering locale groups
in South Africa we can make connections that will be helpful to the brand.
And finally, we will give a freebie, a 2kg of the same product for the first 50
sacks we sell.

MIEL: Meanwhile in distribution strategy, of course FEDEX Philippines will be our


official courier of the product for the safety and secured distribution. This
product can be sold wholesale for business owners who are interested in
investing in our product since it is low-cost and this product can also be
sold per sack for personal usage of our end-to-end consumers.

MIEL: In ZAR the cost of the product is 396 Z per sack and 345 Z if wholesale or
half dozen. We came up to this price by computing the total production
cost times by a year production and total equipment cost divided by year.
Then we add those two and once again divide by total output of the
product. Estimatedly the profit of this fabulous product is 130 ZAR per
sack.

LANCE: Applying technology such as Digital Presence, Online Shops, and


Market Advertising to our product establishes its online presence which
helps to increase the brand visibility. Also, embracing online shops and
e-commerce allows our business to expand its reach and with the help of
market advertising promoting our products to the target audience will be
easy.

MIEL: So the product production for 50 sacks of charcoal was 10 days, within
this frame the pyrolysis process was conducted to its first 5 days and the
charcoal molding was finished for 3 days and the remaining 2 days was
reserved for the post-treatment process to ensure the stability and quality
of the product before distributing it to the consumers.

LANCE: For the measurement of success we predicted its short term and long term
success wherein in the short term the product will solve the 4 main
problems given earlier which are deforestation, climate change, waste
management, and air pollution. Additionally, the product can also solve
high unemployment rate by encouraging the consumers to resell our
product.

MIEL: Meanwhile for long term measurement of success we are open for global
scale production, financial stability, and innovation of new products.
