Van Gogh Paintings

Vincent Van Gogh was a famous Dutch painter whose artworks have influenced the present art.
He has created over 2,100 paintings which include, landscapes, self- portraits, still life and
portraits. He was born on 30 March 1853 in Zundert, Netherlands and died on 29 July 1890 in
France. Some of his most famous artworks include Starry Night Over the Rhône, The Starry
Night and A Wheatfield With Cypresses.

The Starry Night Over the Rhône is a painting by

Van Gogh that was painted on the banks of the
Rhône, a river in Switzerland and France. It is a
post- impressionism artwork. Post impressionism
art is art that expresses emotion rather than
realism. It also focuses on geometric shapes and
vivid colors. The painting has many shades of
blue and flashes of yellow that highlights the
blues.

A Wheatfield With Cypresses is Van

Gogh landscape painting which shows a
cypress (a type of tree) and some smaller
olive trees in a wheatfield. There are some
light blue mountains behind the
wheatfield. This is also a post-
impressionism artwork and is abstract. I
like the way the sky is painted, with
different shapes and colors.

The Starry Night is the most famous of Van

Gogh’s paintings. He saw this view outside
of his window in his asylum room in France.
He added some things out of his own
imagination. There is a couple of cypresses
just like in ‘A Wheatfield With Cypresses’.
