III. ABSTRACT
- This study determined the impact of using Video-Based Strategy in improving the academic
performance in Biology among the select Grade 10 students at Mamplasan National High School.
The researcher utilized two – group pretest and posttest research design for the controlled and
experimental groups. Eighty (80) Grade 10 students were purposively selected by the researcher
to be the respondents of the study. The controlled group was given seven PowerPoint
presentations while the experimental group was seven PowerPoint video lessons focusing on the
topics covered in the 3rd grading period. A paired T-test was used to determine whether there is a
significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores of the students. The result of the
study showed that there is a significant difference in the academic performance of the students
after using the PowerPoint video lesson. The researcher recommended that PowerPoint video
lessons be used as an instructional intervention in improving the academic performance among
the Grade 10 students.
A professional teacher is one who is constantly seeking to learn more and who strives to provide a healthy
learning environment for their students. Every teacher who strives for excellence on a daily basis has one
thing in common: they reflect on their teaching. Effective teacher, those who are aware of what they are
doing, why they are doing it, and how to do it well, are essential for students to be successful. Our views,
analyses, and judgments are influenced by our qualities, experience, and prior information; nonetheless,
teachers must possess the intellectual, social, and instructional skills to be able to act. Given that teaching
is a performance art, let's start with terrible teachers and teaching. As a future educator, I understand how
important personal qualities and professional competencies are in becoming an effective teacher. The
competency of teachers is critical for the process of student 'well development' in ensuring quality
learning. Teachers' competence will have a positive impact on students' academic development and skills
while also assisting teachers in improving their teaching techniques.
A competent teacher seizes every opportunity to encourage learning, believing that all students can learn.
And learning isn't limited to the classroom. To this end, the teacher takes every opportunity to improve on
his or her own professional practice, in order to provide quality learning.
