REFLECTION: 3RD QUARTER LONG TEST IN GEOMETRY 8

The lessons included in the long test were relatively quick and easy to understand.
There were no problems in reviewing and comprehending how each property related to the
other, or the differences in which quadrilateral was which. Interestingly enough, I learned to
get used to utilizing the given in a problem, instead of going straight ahead and solving
immediately. I didn’t notice that that had happened initially, but I do tend to scribble on my
test papers to visually see what I am thinking. Observing the tick marks in my exam, they
were actually clarifying and applying the given so as to not confuse me. During the test, I
also added little check marks after making sure my answer to that question was correct; that
habit of mine dates way back to my elementary days, so I never grew out of reviewing my
test after answering it.

Frankly, my mistakes on the long test were unexpected, not to mention irritating. I
would have preferred if my wrongs were problems that were actually difficult, so I’d have a
solid reason why I couldn’t answer them correctly. As I analyzed my errors on the exam, they
were purely on the definitions and properties of the quadrilaterals. This is an educated guess,
based on my understanding of myself, but I do think I struggle with the simplest of problems
because I overcomplicate them somehow. At some point, I didn’t even answer a question on
the test since I was so perplexed about what to write. These questions, if asked to me now,
would be answered with no hesitation. I’m not exaggerating how easy they are because that’s
just how it is, but I still cannot believe I got the easiest questions wrong.

To further know more and master the lesson, I plan on not taking the topics on
Geometry for granted. I would say I do have a solid grasp of all the lessons during this
grading, but my mistakes on this particular test say otherwise. Not only would I review and
correct my wrongs on the exam, but I’d reevaluate every single question on the test to add
more knowledge to my mental dictionary and vocabulary. I was hoping to be able to say how
I redeemed myself on the next test we took, but a single mistake is better than more.
