2321.01 SCOPE

This specification covers the requirements for the cathodic protection cabinet including the rack and the
pedestal.

2321.03 DEFINITIONS

Stamped: means "Reviewed. Permission to Construct Granted," has been stamped on the drawings by
the Owner.

2321.04 SUBMISSION AND DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

2321.04.01 Submissions

2321.04.01.01 Submission of Shop Drawings

Four copies of the shop drawings containing at least the following information shall be submitted to the
purchaser on request.

a. dimensioned layout drawings including sections and details for enclosure, pedestal and rack layout;
b. detailed bill of materials, including their source;
c. equipment nameplates and manufacturer's label when available;
d. weight.

Shop drawings submitted for review will be "stamped", if acceptable or marked with required changes.
One copy of drawings will be returned to the supplier when changes are required and also when
"stamped".

The above submission procedure shall be repeated if changes are required.

Materials and dimensions shown on the "stamped" shop drawings shall not be changed.

2321.04.01.02 Notification of the Production

The purchaser shall be given at least one week prior notice of the date of commencement of fabrication of
the cabinet and the date of completion.

2321.04.02 Design Requirements

The cabinet shall be designed as specified.

The cathodic protection cabinet shall be constructed so that exposure to the weather, to the effects of
condensation, or to external splashing will not impair the effectiveness of the enclosed electrical and
electronic equipment.

The cabinet requirements:

a. A corrosion resistant padlocking provision, a stainless steel three-point padlocking handle, with blind
mounting hardware. The locking arms of the three-point system shall be equipped with roller bearing
hardware and a door tightening adjustable mechanism.
b. The equipment rack shall be manufactured according to OTSCES 19.
c. The front and back doors shall have a continuous piano hinge and pin assembly.
d. The front and back doors shall be equipped with a device to hold the door open at 90° and at 170°.
This device shall hold the doors open in winds of 70 km per hr.
e. The front and back doors shall be electrically bonded to the cabinet by means of bonding studs and a
flexible braided copper strap according to CSA C22.2 No. 0.4 and No. 41.
f. The front door vent and the fan eave vent shall have nylon screening to prevent the intrusion of
insects and shall have removable, securely attached, air filters and a cover that can be removed and
replaced without the use of tools. Five percent of the vent area shall remain uncovered when the
cover is installed.
g. The pedestal shall be manufactured according to the details shown in the contract and shall have the
top surface indelibly marked with the letters TOP.

2321.05 MATERIALS

2321.05.01 Cathodic Protection Cabinet

The cabinet, vent covers and pedestal shall be manufactured from 14 gauge stainless steel Type 304 and
shall have a No. 2B finish according to ASTM A480 and ASTM A666.

The equipment rack shall be manufactured from 14 gauge galvanized steel.

The piano hinge and pin assembly shall be manufactured from stainless steel Type 304 according to
ASTM A480 and ASTM A666.

The top and bottom gaskets shall be manufactured from neoprene.

The ground bar and bonding shall be according to CSA 22.2 No. 0.4 and No. 41.

The cabinet shall be inspected and approved by an organization accredited by the Standards Council of
Canada or an organization otherwise approved to Canadian Standards by Ontario Hydro. Their label of
approval shall be issued prior to the unit being shipped.

2321.05.02 Marking

The marking shall be weather resistant on a corrosion resistant metal plate.

2321.07 PRODUCTION

2321.07.01 General

The cabinet shall be manufactured according to CSA C22.2 No. 94 Type 3 and as specified. All welding
shall be according to Type 4.

2321.07.02 Marking

Each cathodic protection cabinet shall have identification marking showing the manufacturer's name or
trade mark, and the OPSS specification number OPSS 2321 and the date of manufacture, permanently
attached with adhesive to the inside of the door, in a highly visible location.

2321.07.03 Packaging and Shipment

The cabinet completely factory assembled, and the pedestal, shall have suitable protection provided for
shipping and handling.

The purchaser shall be provided with notice of intent to deliver three days prior to the shipping date.

2321.08 QUALITY ASSURANCE

All work is subject to an inspection by the purchaser's representative prior to shipment.

The purchaser's representative shall have free access to the place of manufacture of the cabinet while
work on the unit is being performed, for the purpose of inspecting the work and examining plant records,
certificates, materials being used, process of fabrication and to make any test as may be considered
necessary.

2321.09 OWNER PURCHASE OF MATERIAL

2321.09.01 Basis of Payment

Payment at the price specified in the purchasing order for each of the Cathodic Protection Cabinet shall
be full compensation for the supply and delivery of each of the cabinets to the destinations and at the
times specified.

The cost of all testing, except that performed in the Owner's laboratory shall be included in the price.
