PAPER CUP TELEPHONE ACTIVITY

OBJECTIVES:
1. Explore how sound is produced.
2. Identify the different characteristics of sound.
3. Create their own musical instruments applying the different characteristics of sound.

Materials:
Two paper cups
String
Pencil

Procedure:
1. Drill a hole at the center of the base of the paper cups with a pencil. The hole should be big
enough to accommodate the string through the hole.
2.Draw the string through the center of the cup and tie a knot to fix it in place.
3. Make sure the knot sits strong at the inside of the base.
4. Pull the loose end of the string and do the same with the other cup.
5. Move away from each other and make sure the string is tight and stretched between the two
listeners.
6. Talk into the cup.

3. How can you increase the level of amplitude in using the paper cups?
