Charts and permits are loaded onto the ECDIS via “ECDIS Chart Portfolio”, which requires exiting
“Navigation & Planning”.
1. To exit “Navigation & Planning” and access the “Chart Portfolio”, move the cursor to the top
of the screen in order to see the menu bar and then click on [(0) Exit]

When subscribing to the NAVTOR database a new certificate needs to be loaded into the ECDIS in
order for the ECDIS import the ENC cells.
1. Insert the NavStick into the ECDIS and start the Chart Portfolio (See 1 Entering the ECDIS
Chart Portfolio)

4. Select the USB drive from the “Drive” drop-down menu and select the “IHO.CRT” file in the
folder INFO\NAVTOR\CERT of the NavStick. Proceed by clicking [OK].
6. The following message box appears. Take note of the number and name of the certificate
and click [OK] to proceed.

8. Select the certificate from Step 6 in the drop-down menu and then click [OK]

4. In the [View] menu, make sure that “View Old Edition” is NOT selected. If this option is
selected, all charts from the NavStick will be installed from scratch on every update.

On the NavStick you will find separate folders for each system you have ordered ENCs for. These
folders are named “ECDIS 1”, “ECDIS 2”, “UNIT 3”, “UNIT 4” and “UNIT 5”. (i.e. if you have two ECDIS
and one chart radar, you will find an “ECDIS 1”, “ECDIS 2” and “UNIT 3” folder on the NavStick).

4. Select the USB drive from the “Drive” drop-down menu and browse to the appropriate
permit folder on the NavStick (e.g. <NavStick>:\INFO\NAVTOR\PERMITS\ECDIS 1”)
Select the “PERMIT.TXT” file and click on [OK] to install the permits from this file.
6. Check the number of chart licenses and click on [OK] to close the “Option” window.

2. The ECDIS will start checking the charts on the NavStick and list all charts that need to be
installed. Click on the [Import/Update] button

4. Click on the [Log] button to view the status and progress of the chart import.
5. Check that the import completed without errors and then click [Exit] to exit “Chart Portfolio”

The AIO data on the Navstick is located in a separate folder and the Auto Detect function does not
locate the data automatically. In order locate the data source path need to be altered.
4. The ECDIS will start checking the charts on the NavStick and list all charts that need to be
installed. Click on the [Import/Update] button.
5. When completed select [Tool] → [Option] → [Advanced] → [Advanced Option…] and set
the DataSource to Set “S-57/S-63(Offline)” to the drive letter of the NavStick (e.g. D: )
