Description: All eGlobe G2 ECDIS answers related to the inspection can be found below.
The PSCO should confirm the validity of ship’s SE certificate and verify by inspection if the navigation
equipment is actually fitted in accordance with the records in the following certificates:
For vessels below convention size there is no requirement for a Record of Equipment, however SOLAS
may require the carriage of certain navigation equipment for tonnages of less than 500 GT. PSCO’s task
will further be to determine whether the ship is of an acceptable standard and be guided by any certificates
or other documents issued by or on behalf of the flag state administration.
1. Please make sure that the ECDIS type approval certificate is on board.
Hardcopies of the eGlobe G2 ECDIS certificates can be found in the ChartWorld Starter Kit.
Following certificates are important and should be ready to present:

2. Please make sure that you use offical S-57/S-63/S-52 ENCs on your ECDIS of the latest
standards
3. Please make sure that you have an AVCS/ACES service certificate/ChartWorld certificate on
board.
ChartWorld – Certificate of Services can be found in the Chart World Starter Pack.
4. PSCO should check if the ECDIS and back-up system are capable of performing the route
planning and route monitoring.
Please confirm that a safe route was created and is active in monitoring mode. Confirm that route is
available on Backup ECDIS as well.

5. Please make sure that at least all ENCs for the next intended voyage are up to date to the latest
update status. Use the”ENC update report on route” function to show that your ENC dataset is
up to date by all possible means.
A full inventory report and a report related to the current voyage can be generated.

6. If you use a backup ECDIS as “suitable backup”, please make sure that all ENCs are also
installed and up to date on that unit.
7. Make sure that all T&P notices are entered in the ENC.
8. In case you use paper charts as backup for your single ECDIS, please make sure that all charts
are corrected up to the latest NtM received on board.
9. PSCO should check if the ECDIS is driven by main power and emergency power. If an electronic
device is used as backup arrangement. The backup power supply should be separated from the
ECDIS, which means the power should be supplied by separated switchboard (the main power
may be supplied by two systems but should be distributed by different switchboards).
1. Please make sure that all officers completed a generic ECDIS training in accordance to STCW
requirements Manila amendment.
2. PSCO should check the endorsement of ECIDS operation restriction in the certificate of
competency.
3. PSCO should check the requirements on standard of competence of using ECDIS for officers in
charge of a navigational watch on ships required to carry ECDIS. Every candidate for
certification shall provide evidence of having achieved the required standard of competence in
accordance with the methods for demonstrating competence and the criteria for evaluating
competence listed in STCW/AII/1 (general training and familiarization training evidence).
4. Please make sure that all officers are familiar with the ECDIS in use in accordance with the
company’s ISM procedure. To avoid unnecessary questions please make sure that some kind of
certifcate is on board to prove that the officers comply with.
Chart World’s Onboard Familiarization Service (OFS) can be presented if in use to proof that a
professional ongoing familiarization solution is in place.
1. PSC will ask different questions and every inspector will have his own ways to find out if the
officer is able to demonstrate the capability.
2. Please make sure that all officers and not only the second mate can answer the questions.

eGlobe G2 → NAV → Orientation
g. Route monitoring
eGlobe G2 ECDIS → Sailing Mode / S-Mode → NAV → Route
Information can be also displayed ifs the visual fixes are older than 72 hours.
eGlobe G2 → S-Mode / Sailing Mode → right click → Track Records → Own Track
p. PSCO should check the officer’s situational awareness while using ECDIS including safe
water and proximity of hazards, set and drift, chart data and scale selection, suitability of
route, contact detection and management,and integrity of sensors.
q. PSCO should check the familiarization of officer for ECDIS update procedure.
