STATIC IP ADDRESS An IP Address located in the iDirect Modem that must be manually assigned to a network device.
DHCP IP ADDRESS An IP Address located in the iDirect Modem on the vessel that is automatically assigned to a connected network device.
PRIVATE IP ADDRESS An IP Address protected by a Marlink Firewall, closed from outside Internet Access.
PUBLIC IP ADDRESS An IP Address on the open, unprotected Internet.
1:1 NAT A Public IP Address located at the teleport delivered to a STATIC-PRIVATE IP Address in the iDirect Modem on the vessel.
PUBLIC IP ADDRESS RANGE A Public IP Address(es) located in the iDirect Modem.
Also known as REVERSE DNS, PTR RECORDS resolve IP addresses into hostnames. ISPs use this to check back from where
PTR RECORD came from using the DNS, matching the name to the IP address. Helps fight SPAM. Must be assigned to a Public IP addres
