1. Contents
It has been reported that the cup pick-up unit may be often contaminated with substrate solution
splashed out of the test cup when discarding it. The cup detection spring attached to the cup pick-up
unit may work to disrupt a balance of the test cup at the instant the cup chuck claws open to discard it.
To resolve this problem, the new discarded cup guiding block shown below was registered. This
guiding block works to relax the spring function on the cup pick-up unit when discarding test cups
so that the test cup will not be subjected to any force to lose a balance other than gravity force.
The same type of guiding block has been already employed on the AIA-21, AIA-1800 and AIA-2000.

This new part will be installed in the instruments of S/N #2586 and later.

Note: This part will not work on the instruments installed the old-type cup pick-up unit (S/N #2380
and before).
When installing this part in such instruments, replace the cup pick-up unit and the
heat-retaining cover in advance (refer to the Technical Information AIA-600-2-T100 dated
January 25, 2008).
