FINAL EXAM OF ED 210-COMPARATIVE EDUCATION

1.How the content of our curriculum contribute to the issues of the Philippine Educational

System?

Curriculum content is another main lever of education quality. The knowledge, skills and

attitudes imparted by learning areas/subjects, cross-cutting approaches and extra-curricular

activities is a main source of systematic and comprehensive learning.

This are the different problems that contribute to the issues of our Philippine Educational

System.

Quality of Education- students who hail from Philippine urban areas have the financial

capacity to complete at the very least their primary school education.

Budget for Education- the Philippines remains to have one of the lowest budget allocations to

education among ASEAN countries.

Affordability of Education- Socioeconomically disadvantaged students otherwise known as

students who are members of high and low-income poverty-stricken families, have immensely

higher drop-out rates in the elementary level. Additionally, most freshmen students at the tertiary

level come from relatively well-off families.

Drop-out Rate (Out-of-school youth)- Subsequently, as more families become poorer, the

number of students enrolled in public schools increases, especially in the high school level.

Mismatch-  the cause of the continuation of a substantial amount of educated yet unemployed

or underemployed people

Brain Drain- subsequently inducts an unparalleled brain drain alongside grave economic

implications.
Social Divide- This aforementioned divide in the social system has made education become

part of the institutional mechanism that creates a division between the poor and the rich.

Lack of Facilities and Teacher Shortage in Public Schools- there are too many students and

too little resources.

2.How are the resources in your community affect the education of your learner?

Education is one of the most critical foundations for community development. A well-educated

community can thrive and grow, not just intellectually but also economically and socially.

The community and parents have important roles in ensuring the quality of education in schools.

The community factors that have direct or indirect effects on ensuring the quality education are:

home environment, support for education, community’s lack of skills and confidence,

community’s lack of cohesion and experience in contributing to school management ,a values

gap between government initiatives and community desires, children’s familial obligations to

family , public facilities available in the community, industrial areas, use of modern technology,

school location, community leaders, educational communities, conflicts of interest, donations

from the community, a sense of belonging the cultural gap between parent and teacher and

economic and social status of the community.
