ABSTRACT

Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) was pretreated with different concentration of sulfuric
acid, detoxified with CaOH and NaOH and then fermented using Zymomonas mobilis CP4 (a
recombinant strain). Ethanol, which is used as a solvent, in the synthesis of other organic
chemicals, and as an additive to automotive gasoline, was also produced from it that makes it
good for producing a briquette. Dried Coconut Kernel is completely eco-friendly product, which
is made from sustainable natural resources, it also helps to pro-long the life of burning of the
charcoal. Charcoal briquettes that are made from these materials will produce less smoke that
leads to lesser greenhouse gases. Prioritizing the use of charcoal briquette will lead to cheaper
amount in every use of it. This charcoal is good for business like barbeque, cooked bangus, etc.
Charcoal briquette is cheaper than the manufactured charcoal, reliable, can be found on almost
every corner, nontoxic and eco-friendly.
