CHARACTERISTICS OF VESSELS

Length Overall (LOA) in meter

LOA = maximum length of a vessel's hull measured
parallel to the waterline
Loaded waterline length (LWL) in meter
LWL = length of a vessel at the level where it sits in
the water
Length between perpendiculars (LPP) in meter
LPP = length of a vessel along the waterline from the
main bow perpendicular member to the main stern
perpendicular member
Beam in meter
Beam = overall width of the vessel measured at the
widest point of the nominal waterline
Draught in meter
Draught = vertical distance from the bottom of the
keel to the waterline
Height above MSL (Mean Sea Level) in meter
Height = distance from the water line to the highest
point on a vessel while it is loaded
Maximum Length of the hawser
Depends usually of the type of vessel
