HOT SPRINGS
FACILITY
HISTORY
FACILITY HISTORY
 1966 - Union Carbide Corporation began mining operations and stockpiling vanadium
 1968 - Processing Mill was completed and Production began.
 1984 - Union Carbide created UMETCO Minerals Corporation ( A wholly owned subsidiary of Union Carbide)

 1986 - Several managers of Umetco’s vanadium and tungsten business purchased that business
in a leveraged buyout, forming a new company called Strategic Minerals Corporation.
 Through this leveraged buyout two separate business entities were formed.
 U. S. Vanadium Corporation – North American Assets
 Vametco Minerals Corporation – South African Facility
 Umetco retained all rights and environmental responsibilities to the mining property located adjacent to the Hot Springs’
mill and facilities as well as sharing joint responsibility tailings pond.

 1998 - Nissho Iwai Corporation, a Japanese metals-trading company purchased 21% of Strategic
Minerals Corporation as an investment. (Changed their name to Sojitz)

 2004 - Due to organizational changes and for tax purposes of its North American interests the company
officially changed its name from U.S. Vanadium to Stratcor, Inc. ( Stratcor, Inc. remained a subsidiary of the Strategic Minerals
Corporation.)

 2006 - Evraz Group S.A., purchased about 79% of the company, making Strategic Minerals
Corporation part of the Evraz Group.

 2014 – Evraz Group S.A. separated Strategic Minerals Corporation & Evraz Stratcor, Inc. into two
separate business (Evraz Group owns 100% of Evraz Stratcor, Inc.)

 2017 – Evraz Group sold its shares in Strategic Minerals Corporation to Bushveld Minerals.
 2017 – Evraz Group sold its shares in Evraz Stratcor to US Vanadium LLC.
