SUBJECT : Spot Report on Robbery with Homicide and Rape at 38


Purok Tapatan, San Jose Gumi, Lubao, Pampanga

DATE : September 15, 2016


Reference: Blotter entry # 2101, page 114 dated September 15, 2016

1. At or on about 0200H of September 15, 2016 a stabbing incident has transpired


in 38 Purok Tapatan, San Jose Gumi, Lubao, Pampanga wherein the victims
were identified as JENIE GARCIA, 34 years old and DORAIN JOSH GARCIA,
10 years old.

2. As referenced above, while PMSg JHON RAMOS, PCpl SHELLA MARIE C


DAVID and PAT MARK CALMA was patrolling the area of Purok Tapatan, San
Jose Gumi, Lubao, Pampanga they saw a man hurriedly running away holding a
kitchen knife and have blood on his clothes. PMSg JHON RAMOS commanded
PCpl SHELLA MARIE C DAVID and PAT MARK CALMA to go after the suspect,
ROMMEL KANILAW alias “SYO”. After 3 hours of pursuit, he was caught near
the Lubao-Sasmuan River. The suspect was identified through the ball pen inks
on his hand. The ball pen was the victim’s property and was used in stabbing the
victim.

3. According to the statement of the suspect, he was drunk and was not in his right
mind. Due to alcohol’s influence, he thought of stealing in the house of his
mother’s employer, Jennie Garcia where his mother, PANENG KANILAW, is
working as a laundrywoman. He went to the backdoor of the house and when he
opened the lights, Jennie Garcia woke up. He stabbed the victim five times in the
stomach with a kitchen knife. He also admitted to have raped the victim. Due to
the situation, the son of the victim, Dorain Josh Garcia, woke up. The suspect
stabbed him two times in the chest and choke Dorain to death.
4. After killing the victims, he stole 2 gold watch, a tablet, a computer, a cellphone,
and 10,000 pesos in cash. He threw the kitchen knife in Lubao-Sasmuan river
where he was caught.

5. The suspect is detained in Lubao Municipal Jail. The suspect is charged with the
crime of Robbery with Homicide with Rape.
