PREPARATION WORKSHOP – 1 DAY


Description

Kick off workshop with the core team to ensure decision readiness. The workshop starts with an overview of
SAP WPB, followed by a detailed explanation of all licensed components, their features and customisation
possibilities.

Outcome

 Awareness of the licensed components and functional overview of the licensed edition
 Core team / project manager(s) is/are equipped with a high-level overview of WPB to understand the
components and features in order to aid any future decision-making strategies
 Core team / project manager(s) is/are enabled to decide about default changes, parameterization and
customizing in the upcoming workshops
 Departments such as IT understand the tasks required of them and the timelines
 IT infrastructure characteristics and policies defined
 Analysis / Strategy and Design Workshop structure confirmed
 Physical setup planning (Client rollout, server setup, SAP system, GUI modifications, browser settings, etc.)
 Stakeholders understand support process

Afternoon Session (2 hours)

As per the morning with the addition of:

 IT responsible manager who can facilitate Server and Desktop Installation, and changes to SAP and IE
Settings

For the remainder of the day, please provide the SAP WPB Education Consultant with access to all participants
or key contacts as confirmed during the meeting, in order to ask any further questions.
ANALYSIS/STRATEGY & DESIGN – 4 DAYS
Description

The duration spent on each task may vary, based on, for example, licensed edition; enterprise size and WPB
usage decisions.

In this workshop(s), the following points are discussed to get the complete “big picture “of your organisational
needs, to enable the creation of the WPB solution blueprint and to document outcomes of this workshop. The
SAP WPB Education Consultant will offer best practice examples for each topic. This workshop is the most
important step in the WPB implementation phase.

 Identify applications be captured in with WPB to enable to plan application analysis and profile development
 Global project timeline, milestones and responsibilities (who is who)
 Content delivery scenario(s)
 Identity management and technical role planning (authoring process and end use access)
 Content structuring (languages, subsidiaries, process variants, use case variants etc.)
 Customising specifications (templates, default parameters etc.)
 Documentation layout concept
 Book Page layout concept
 Confirmation of IT Requirements

Outcome

 A clear task list for the forthcoming days is created


 Identification of secondary documentation requirements (checklists, setup guides, handbooks, SAP notes)
 Further steps are scheduled (server installation, follow up workshops etc.)
 Results and tasks documented in:
 High level project plan
 Task list
 Customising specification
 SAP WPB implementation concept
 Training sessions are planned and fully prepared for, training preparation is based on specific authoring
guidelines, understanding default settings, workflows, project roles, template usage
 Customisation is implemented and reviewed

All recommended participants are advised to attend an initial 90 minute meeting at the start of the first day and to
be available for questions/input on at least one of the other days. The Training Manager and Project Manager
are expected to be involved throughout all three days, plus any other necessary WPB stakeholders.

BUILD AND DOCUMENT DAY (REMOTE)


Description

All discussions and decisions made on the strategy and design workshop are documented in a strategy and
design guide.

MANAGER INSTALLATION & ADMINISTRATION
WORKSHOP – 1 DAY
MANAGER INSTALLATION

Description

Scheduled in as part of, or as follow up to, the analysis/strategy and design workshop, the physical installation of
the WPB manager server and the training of the technical administrator takes place at this stage. The installation
may, or may not be onsite, depending on server location.

 Confirmation of technical spec against pre-installation checklist


 Installation / check of needed legacy components (application server, database etc.)
 Installation of WPB manager (training/test and production environments)
 Initialization of WPB manager (database connection, workarea setup, resources setup, identity management
setup, basic roles and rights definition)
 1st infrastructure test (client server connectivity, read/write behaviour of the repository).

Outcome

 Server infrastructure is ready to use (technical perspective)


 Technical administrator is trained.

 Owner(s) for enabling the Server Installation, IE Settings and Desktop Installation
 Designated WPB Administrator
 A Database Administrator (in case of technical issues)

MANAGER ADMINISTRATION WORKSHOP

Description

This workshop will be standard classroom style delivery. It covers all aspect of SAP WPB Manager from a
theoretical overview of the key subject areas, in conjunction with hands-on exercises and best practices. Note:
some topics may be covered in more detail on the Project Manager Workshop.

management and monitoring of content development, and the subsequent deployment to end users via WPB

PRODUCER TRAINING – ENTERPRISE EDITION – 3 DAYS
Description

Delivered as standard classroom style training, the course provides a theoretical overview of the important
subject areas in conjunction with hands-on exercises and best practices. By the end of the second day, each
trainee will have created their own sample training course. Note: some topics may be tailored to reflect the
