In this modern era, people are becoming more materialistic. According to Tim Kasser, a
therapist who has some expertise in realism. “To be materialistic means to have values that
put a generally high need on raking in boatloads of cash and having numerous belongings as
well as on picture and notoriety, which are ovuite often communicated through cash and
assets. This is because possessions bring them bliss, they seek attention and wish to live a
luxury life.
Firstly, one of the reason being materialism is because to get other people’s consideration
has become an important part of they’re live. For an example, using expensive and branded
products or things such as Coach handbags, iPhone smartphones, H&M and many more. It is
to being took attention from others to get praises and acclaims from other people’s and its
make the individual extremely happy.
Moreover, in my opinion on being materialistic not only affected an individual, its also
affected our country’s economy as well. Materialism has make people’s to make more money
to spend or buy things that they cannot afford and this will give effect on the country’s
economy. This is because today’s generation outfitted towards to have a enjoyful lighthearted
ways of life that is famous in the 21st century.
Other than that, wish to have luxurious life people become materialistic too. For an
example, luxurious life is having fancy bungalow carefree lifestyle and travelling the world.
Having a luxurious life is not a easy task but due to this people working very hard day and
night its make them to forget about their family, friends and their health itself.
In conclusion, being materialistic a very common thing in this generation era. Being
materialism make the people happy with possessions, seeking attention and to live a
luxurious life. As Francis Bacon said “Money is a great servant but a bad master” so I hope
that people learn to balance their wants and needs.
