Activation of Subcontracting Process in

Integration with SAP Project System

1 Business Background
1.1 Requirement
In standard SAP system, Subcontracting Process is involved following steps:-

 Receipt of component stock into Unrestricted Stock

 Good Issue to Subcontracting Vendor using 541 movement
 Vendor Process the stock in his premises even though stock is reflecting under Client Balance
sheet
 Receiving of Processed Stock into Client Stock
o Consumption of Component via 543 O movement type
o Receiving of Finished goods using 101 Movement type

But If user wanted to use Project Stock instead of Unrestricted Stock then you cannot use Project
stock to trigger the good Issue to Subcontractor.

1.2 Proposed Business Solution

To enable usage of Project Stock a specific configuration needs to enables in SAP system. Post
enablement, below set of transaction needs to be executed: -

 Receipt of component stock into Project Stock (Special Stock Type Q)

 Designated a specific storage location for a Subcontracting Vendor Stock
 Transferred the Project stock to the aforementioned Storage Location using 311 Q
 Good Issue to Subcontracting Vendor using 541 movement
 Vendor Process the stock in his premises even though stock is reflecting under Client Balance
sheet
 Receiving of Processed Stock into Client Stock
o Consumption of Component via 543 Q movement type
o Receiving of Finished goods using 101 Q Movement type

1.2.1 Prerequisite
1. Create Separate Storage Location for each Subcontracting Vendor if you wanted to monitor
and segregate vendor wise subcontracting stock
2. The components which need to be consumed from Project stock directly, MARC-SBDKZ must
be set up with value other than ‘02’.
The value can be set up in two ways: -
a) in the MRP view of the material master record (MRP 4)
 b) in the explosion types for the BOM item (in Customizing for Production in
the step Basic Data -> Bill of Material -> Item Data -> Define explosion
types ) *
Configuring the explosion types has priority over the configuration in Inventory Management.

For Current client we will be using option 1 via MRP View 4.

1.4 Further Configuration scope

If multiple storage locations required then individual Storage location needs to be configured
based detail requirement.

Finance related configuration needs to be amended as per requirement.

1.5 Negative Testing Requirement

Testing needs to be carried out to ensure no impact on normal Subcontracting process
