Do you have any leadership experience? (within a club, a sport, a job, volunteering, tutoring)
My leadership experience comes from both volunteering at organizations as an executive board member and tutoring. For
example, in the EBPL TAG Club at EBPL, as co-vice president I work with the other exec. board members to organize
events for the teens, children, and adults at the library. I helped organize monthly meetings by creating slideshows with what
will be covered at the meeting, and intiate new ideas for events. I also do this at EBTECS where I am also an exec board
member, and compile slideshows with newsletter contributions. I also tutor for NHS which demonstrates my leadership
experience, where I needed to lead by organizing lessons. Similarly, in HindiUSA, I was a teacher and role model for the
students, as I could relate to the students more than the teacher could, and helped to teach Hindi through Kahoots.
In what areas have you shown the most development and growth during the past 3 or 4 years?
Where I have shown most development and growth during the past 3 years has been in
organization and time-management. As I got more involved in schoolwork, the community
and other events, I needed to learn to better organize my schedule and manage my time, so
that I would not overwhelm myself or lose track of what I had enrolled in. I learnt that I best
organize by using digital applications (Onenote) and time manage using a pre-planned
schedule.
Are there any unusual or personal circumstances which have affected your educational experience or
personal life?
No
What personality traits do you possess which make you outstanding? (i.e. perseverance, independence,
What is your greatest strength and how have you used it?
My greatest strength is helping others. I have used it by contributing at least one hundred
hours of service to the community, be it by contributing in solving problems associated to
technology, humanitarianism, or tutoring.

Karthik is highly motivated and a self learner. He always completes any work on time. He is
very compassionate and kind-hearted, and is always ready to help. When he was 8, he learnt
to solve a 3x3 Rubiks cube within a week, and eventually was able to solve it in 1 minute. My
cousin once needed a video edited the next day itself and shared the video at 11:30 PM. Even
though it was a weekday and he had a lot of homework to finish, Karthik finished editing the
video on the same night. When he was younger, he gave his water bottle to a stranger because
he was thirsty on a hot day, which I believe showed his selflessness. As he mentioned, he is
very techy, and I myself take his help whenever I have an issue with the laptop or phone. He
also helps us setup all types of devices. He has also helped teachers with advice in technology.
I recall him telling me that one of his teachers had asked whether to purchase a new Mac and
audio system, and he had helped him make that decision by giving advice. He learnt
video/audio editing and coding by himself, through YouTube, and this has allowed him to help a
lot of people and non-profit organizations. He is also a good teacher, and makes sure whoever
he teaches to really understands the material. The parent of his tutee for NHS was very happy
because they saw a clear improvement of scores after Karthik tutored her.
