CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

This part of the research would enumerate the methods and approaches used by the
researchers in the study. The research locale, the research instruments, and the data
processing would also be discussed in this chapter.

Research Locale

This study will be conducted in the area around Abucay, Bataan, specifically in
Barangay Calaylayan. The materials will be collected or purchased locally in Bataan. The
instruments that will be used in testing the product will be borrowed from the science
laboratory of Bonifacio Camacho National High School.

Research Design

The research design approach used by the researchers and the methods used in
constructing the project will be discussed in this part.

The researchers used an experimental approach for the research study. Experimental
research is a methodology where there are two variables: the control group, which will not be
subject to changes, and the experimental variable, which will be manipulated by the
researchers.

As for the methods used in the project, the researchers implied several steps to
produce magnetite stainless-steel pot. Figure 1 best represents the methods implied by the
researchers in the project.

Figure 1
Figure 1 represents the procedures followed by the researchers in producing the
project. The collection of magnetite sand required the researchers to gather only fine
magnetite sand. To remove any other substances, filtration methods will be used through the
use of strainers. After gathering the magnetite sand, it will be constructed with the two
stainless-steel pots. This process will make the magnetite stainless-steel pot. Then, it will be
subjected to experiments by adding distilled water. Distilled water will be boiled under high
heat until it reaches its boiling point. After boiling, the time it took until it cooled down will
be recorded. Both boiling time and cooling time will be recorded for further experimentation.

The researchers used 1.5 kilograms of magnetite sand and 1 liter of distilled water. A
strainer, stove, magnets, and weighing scale will also be used as instruments for experiments.

Research Instrument

The research instrument used by the researchers in data gathering will be discussed in
this part of the chapter.

To gather data, the researchers used an experimental setup. The setup is composed of
four stainless-steel pots (the commercialized stainless-steel pot and the project magnetite
stainless-steel pot with three different treatments); each pot contains 1 liter of water.

The magnetite stainless-steel pots produced by the researchers, labeled as pots A, B,

and C, respectively, and the commercial stainless-steel pot, labeled as pot D, will be
examined in accordance with the time at which the temperature of the water rises and
decreases. Each magnetite stainless steel pot produced by the researchers consists of different
grams of magnetite sand: pot A contains 300 grams of magnetite sand, pot B contains 500
grams of magnetite sand, and pot C contains 700 grams of magnetite sand.

The accuracy of the stainless-steel pots A, B, C, and D will be measured in terms of

the time during which the temperature of the water in each pot rises and decreases, and all
pots will be compared to each other.

Comparative analysis will be done for the commercialized one and the magnetite
stainless-steel pots created by the researchers. The tests will be tabulated in terms of the time
when the temperature of the water rises and decreases for the pots being compared.
