Hi. The hard way. First I combined two existing liveries - Blackshark and
Blackneutral and got rid of the black shark stencils mostly be cloning ower from
the blackneutral. Also using GIMP to make this skin BTW.

Then used "select by color" tool and selected the black part of the skin and
lightened it up, using "contrast and brightness" - the values were about 95/90 to
make it grey. Then desaturated it to make it more grey. There is some quality loss
but it was the only way

Then added some custom made weathering, mostly on tail, because the nose was
already pretty good just from the brightness and contrast change. Basically cloning
and then some more cloning and come new textures. Ocasionally even cloning single
rivets / srews.

Took me about 10 hours to make the first version, the alternative version with more
white areas was additional 10 hours. I had enough free time since it was holiday 😄

Edit: I don't thing it's posible to separate anything once it's one layer, but if
it's one color you can "select by color" (changing the treshold helps sometimes)
and copy it in the new layer and reuse it elswhere as additional weathering for
exampleddddddd
