OVERVIEW
Traditionally, monitoring electricity consumption
involves manual meter readings.

Energy monitoring have become smart and quite

efficient as IoT has evolved over the years.

The IoT allows us to collect and analyze data in real

time.
CAN SMART METERS
CONTROL ELECTRICITY?!

Smart meters can monitor and measure how much

electricity is used, but they cannot regulate or manage
how much electricity is used in a building or by a person.

Smart meters provide accurate and up-to-date

information on energy consumption, which can be used to
help homeowners and businesses make informed decisions
about their energy consumption and potentially save
money on their energy bills.
Introduction
IoT describes the network of physical objects that are
embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies.
Blynk is an IoT platform for iOS or Android smartphones that
is used to control Arduino, Raspberry Pi and NodeMCU via
the Internet.
IoT based energy consumption monitoring systems are
mainly used for reducing energy consumption and
improving energy efficiency.

voltage transformer
High precision on-board op-amp circuit
Operating temperature : 40ºC ~ + 70ºC
Supply voltage 5 volts to 30 volts
ESP32 WiFi Module
Specifications
CPU: Dual-core Tensilica LX6 microprocessors, clocked at 160
MHz
Memory: 520 KB SRAM, 448 KB ROM, 4 MB Flash memory
GPIO: 34 GPIO pins, including analog inputs, digital inputs, and
PWM outputs
Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC): 12-bit SAR ADC with up to
18 channels
Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC): 8-bit DAC with two
channels
Operating voltage: 2.2V to 3.6V
Operating temperature range: -40°C to +125°C
Methodology
The VCC & GND pins of both the SCT-013 Current Sensor and ZMPT101B
Voltage Sensor are connected to the Vin & GND of ESP32, which is a 5V
supply
The output analog pin of the ZMPT101B Voltage Sensor is connected to the
GPIO35 of ESP32
The output analog pin of the SCT-013 Current Sensor is connected to the
GPIO34 of ESP32.
To measure the current and voltage, the AC wires must be connected to the
input AC Terminal of the Voltage Sensor.
For the Current Sensor, only a single live or neutral wire needs to be
inserted inside the clip part.
