ABSTRACT:
❖ In Industry and domestic applications attendance registering is important at each and every
moment. Many Face A Lot of problems due to the lack of a proper attendance system.

❖ Attendance Systems are commonly used systems to mark the presence in offices and
schools. From Manually marking the attendance in attendance registers to using high-tech
applications and biometric systems, these systems have improved significantly.

❖ Biometric student attendance system increases the efficiency of the process of taking
students to attendance. This presents a simple and portable approach to student attendance
in the form of an Internet of Things (IOT) based system that records the attendance using
fingerprint based biometric scanner and stores them securely over cloud.
Conti..

❖ This system aims to automate the cumbersome process of manually taking and storing
student attendance records. It will also prevent proxy attendance, thus increasing the
reliability of attendance records. The records are securely stored and can be reliably retrieved
whenever required by the teacher.

❖ IOT Based Biometric Fingerprint Attendance System using Arduino Uno, LCD DISPLAY &
FingerPrint Sensor. The ESP12 (Arduino Uno) Wifi Module will collect the fingerprint data from
the multiple users and send it over the internet to a website.
OBJECTIVES:

❖ The main objective of the project is to automate the process of attendance and make
it possible to check attendance in real time.

❖ In this system we made a transmitting module to transmit the fingerprint matched ID

and a server to receive the data from the transmitting module and do the calculations.
LITERATURE REVIEW:
This paper presents the design methodology of a simple and high real time Zigbee - biometric
system for easy and time saving attendance management using the fingerprints of the
employees at any organization along with the employee incoming and outgoing log
maintenance. Firstly employee's fingerprints are scanned by software and an identity number is
allotted as their enrollment. During the attendance time when employees impress their
fingerprints, against the scanner, the system compares the new fingerprint patterns and the
connection between various points in the fingerprint with the enrollment database. A match is
recorded as a knock exercising acquisition, processing, transmission, matching. Through this
automatic system, time and manpower is reduced to the great extent.- ( Fingerprint

HARDWARE COMPONENTS:
❖ Fingerprint Sensor
❖ IR Sensor
❖ LCD Display
❖ Breadboard
❖ Node MCU ESP12

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
❖ XAMPP
❖ Arduino Software
Solar Module:

● Actually, It is a 2.5Watts, 5V Solar Module to produce DC Power.

● It Converts the Solarenergy to electricity.
TP4056 Lithium ion Charger

● It is a 1 Amp Battery Charger.

● It can charge Lithium ion Battery with maximum of 1 Amp and Also it
protects Battery from OverCharging, Low Voltage Discharge, Short Circuit.
● So, It is a Charger And Protection Circuit.
Lithium ion Battery Cell
● A battery is a device that stores chemical energy and converts it to electrical
energy.
● In this we used 3.7V Battery.
Boost Converter

● This Entire Project Operates on 5V, But Our Batteries is only 3.7V.

● So to increase the Voltage we use Boost Converter.

● In this we are using MP3608 Boost Converter. This Boost Converter can vary the voltage in

between 2V to 40V.
Node MCU ESP12

● In this we can see two components i.e., Micro Controller as well as Wifi Module.
● It serve the purpose of MicroController and WIFI Module. So it helps for reading,
writing to digital pins and gives the internet connectivity.
● In this we are also having the USB to Upload the Code.
IR Sensor

● Once when there is a Presence of Human, then only Fingerprint Sensor gets activated.
● Normally, the IR Sensor Contains Transmitter and Receiver, The pulses will come back
from the objects. It will detect, that some there is infront of sensor.
● It will activate the Fingerprint Sensor with the help of coding.
● Range (10 cm - 80 cm ).
LCD - Liquid Crystal Display

● The Power Supply is given to NCC, GND,

Backlight (+), Backlight (-).
● Normally, It contains 8 Pins ( D0-D7 ). But In this
Only ( D4-D7 ) is used.
● D4-D7 is used to transfer the data to be
displayed over this LCD display.
Fingerprint Sensor

● When we put Finger it will take the image of

the finger, it will convert it into Binary.
● From Fingerprint to Patterns is created and
from this patterns it is again converted into
Binary i.e., 0,1’s.
● It contains 6 pins. But Only 4 pins are used.
● VCC, GND - Power Supply
● RX, TX - Serial Communication of Data.
ADVANTAGES:

❖ Very accurate fingerprint reading & storing.

❖ Cost Effective.
❖ Can be installed in small spaces.
❖ Fingerprint is stored via cloud.

CONCLUSION:
❖ The traditional process of manually taking and maintaining student attendance is highly
inefficient and time consuming.
❖ The attendance monitoring system based on biometric authentication has a potential to
streamline the whole process. An Internet of Things (IoT) based portable biometric
attendance system can prove to be of great value to educational institutions in this regard
as it proves to be highly efficient and secure.
❖ The cost involved in making this system is quite less, when compared to conventional
biometric attendance system. The use of cloud computing to store the attendance records
makes all the data easy to access and retrieve as end when required by the teachers.
❖ The use of fingerprint scanner ensures the reliability of the attendance record. The
system, due to its lack of complexity, proves to be easy to use and user friendly.
