JaggeryManufacturingProcessOptimizationUsingIOT

Abstract:

In the realm of modern industry, the integration of cutting-edge technologies has

revolutionizedtraditionalprocessesacrossvarious sectors. One suchsectorthathaswitnessed
remarkable transformation is the production of jaggery, a quintessential sweetener deeply
rootedin manycultures around the world. This project report delves into the intriguing world
of jaggery manufacturing process optimization through the innovative application of the
Internet of Things (IOT). Jaggery, a natural and unrefined sugar product, is derived from the
evaporation and crystallization of sugarcane. Traditional methods of jaggeryproduction have
often been labor-intensive and time-consuming, relying heavily on manual labor and
empirical knowledge. However, with the advent of IOT, there is an unprecedented
opportunity to enhance the efficiency, quality, and sustainability of the jaggery production
process.

PresenttheoryandPractices:

This report explores the multifaceted dimensions of leveraging IOT technologies to

optimize the jaggery manufacturing process. It delves into the integration of smart sensors,
data analytics, and automation systems to monitor and control critical parameters at eachstage
of production. Moreover, it investigates how IOT can empower jaggery manufacturers to
make informed decisions, minimize resource wastage, and ensure product consistency.

Proposedwork:

The main aim is to develop a system for Optimization of Jaggery Production using
IOT real-time monitoring of various parameters in process at remote places using
Microcontroller based system. This systemwill measure various process parameters like
temperature, flowofstreametc. helpsto controlspeed ofAC motorsintraditionalmechanism. To
improve quality of jaggerywe develop a system which automate a task ofdriving various
motors in process of manufacturing.

HardwareRequirement:

MAX6675 Thermocouple Module

This MAX6675 Module + K type Thermocouple sensor measure 10240C temperature

sensor makes use of the Maxim MAX6675 K-Thermocouple to digital convertor IC to
provide a microcontroller compatible digital serial interface for giving an accurate
temperature compensated measurement of the supplied K-type Thermocouple sensor.
Temperature signal can be converted into 12-bit digital.

SEN-HZG1WA Flow Sensor

SEN-HZG1WA water Flow Sensoris a device that is used to measure the flow rate of
water. It consists of a turbine-type rotor that is placed in the water stream, and as the water
flows past the rotor, it causes the rotor to spin. The sensor measures the speed of the rotor and
it converts to flow rate. The sensor has a digital output. The flow range is 4~45 Liter/Min The
flow characteristic is F=5Q-3, F:HZ, Q:L/min, ±10%.
RPM Sensor
An RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) sensor, also known as a rotational speed sensor or
tachometer, measures the rotational speed of a shaft or an object in motion. There are different
types of RPM sensors, but the most common one is the magnetic induction sensor, which works
based on the principle of electromagnetic induction.A magnetic induction sensor consists of a
magnet, a coil, and an amplifier circuit. The magnet is mounted on the rotating shaft or object,
and the coil is stationary. As the shaft rotates, the magnet produces a magnetic field that passes
through the coil. This induces a voltage in the coil, which is proportional to the speed of the
shaft. The amplifier circuit amplifies the voltage signal and converts it into a digital or analog
signal that can be used to display or control the RPM.

Raspberry pi

The Raspberry Pi 3 is equipped with a quad-core 64-bit Broadcom BCM2837 ARM

Cortex-A53 SOC processor running at 1.2 GHz, making it about 50% more powerful than the
Pi 2. Which means the new Raspberry Pi 3 can be used for office applications and web
browsing. The Raspberry Pi for IOT project aims to leverage the power and versatility of
Raspberry Pi single-board computers to create a robust and cost-effective Internet of Things
(IOT) solution. IOT has rapidly gained momentum in recent years, with applications spanning
various industries, from smart homes to industrial automation. This project seeks to
demonstrate how Raspberry Pi can be utilized as a central component to build a scalable and
flexible IOT system.

TriacDriverModule
These devices isolate low voltage logic from240 VAC lines to provide randomphase
controlofhighcurrent triacs orthyristors. These devices feature greatlyenhanced static dv/dt
capability to ensure stable switching performance of inductive loads. Also known as a
Phototriac Coupler, a TRIAC Driver is a specific type of optocoupler that is used exclusively
to provide an optically-isolated gate drive current to a TRIAC. This allows designers greater
flexibility in selecting the gate drive current and isolation value desired separately from the
TRIAC required. The TRIAC Driver + TRIAC combination is a common means of creating a
discrete, high powered SSR.TRIAC Drivers are composed of an input LED optically coupled
to a photo-sensitive TRIAC Driver chip. Upon application on an input current (2.5-15mA,
typically) the input LED shines light on the TRIAC Driver chip thereby allowing current
flow through the device. This current then flows to the gate of a discrete output TRIAC and
allows the load to be switched on or off.
SoftwareRequirement:

 Raspbian OS

Raspberry Pi OS (formerly Raspbian) is a Unix-like operating system based on the

Debian Linux distribution for the Raspberry Pi family of compact single-board computers.
First developed independently in 2012, it has been produced as the primary operating system
for these boards since 2013, distributed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

Raspberry Pi OS ishighly optimized for the Raspberry Pi with ARM CPUs. It runs on
every Raspberry Pi except the Pico microcontroller. Raspberry Pi OS uses a modified LXDE
desktop environment with the Openbox stacking window manager, along with a unique
theme. The default distribution is shipped with a copy of the computer algebra system
Wolfram Mathematica, VLC, and a lightweight version of the Chromium web browser.

Salientfeaturesofsystem:

1. Process Optimization: After Integrating this system in conventional process,

we get less time to get desired product also, this systemautomates task of driving
motors in process.
2. Increase Quality of Product:Due to automating speed of motors in process
according to feedback of various parameters, we will able to increase quality of
product.
3. ReduceMan-Power: Thissystemreplacestraditionaloperator inmanufacturing &
provides high efficiency.
