FUNCTIONS OF PHC:
The functions of primary health centre in India cover all 12 essential elements of primary health care.
These are:
❖ Medical care referral services for subcentre.
❖ Maternal & child health including family planning.
❖ Safe water supply & basic sanitation.
❖ Prevention of control of locally endemic diseases.
❖ Collection & reporting of vital statistics.
❖ Education about health.
❖ National health programme
❖ Referral Services
❖ Training of health workers, local dias & health assistants.
❖ Basic laboratory services
❖ Tubectomy / Vasectomy Services
❖ Health & Nutrition Education

YEAR OVER 17000 HWCs WERE OPERATIONALIZED, MORE THAN THE TARGET OF 15000
SET FOR FY 2018-2019”
ORIENTATION REPORT:
On 12/12/2022 @ 10 AM
❖ MSc students & 4th year students reached the PHC Kohka. We all met with our teachers and
they orient us about the hospital. We enter through main gate :-
❖ Waiting area in front with full facility of sitting arrangements for the people visiting PHC with full
facilitate ventilation and lightning.
❖ In our left as shown in map of Kohka PHC: - Room no. 18 (Vaccination Room) where 2 sisters
(S/N) are available they are taking vitals of patient & send them to OPD.
❖ Room no. 10 (Eye Dept.) ophthalmic assistant room is there, they select the cases for cataract
operation & diagnose the patient for any opthal related problem & send them to higher facility.
❖ Dressing area outside the vaccination room there is dressing area with proper BMW
management for disposable of waste.
❖ Pathology room 1 lab technician is there for testing the sample & proper investigation room is
there with proper arrangements of old withdraw facilities & sitting arrangements.
❖ Male ward 3 beds capacity with proper ventilation & proper toilet facilities, 3 IV stands, proper
lightning, BMW management small Nsg station.
❖ Feeding Room proper closed room available for feeding room with proper arrangements &
ventilation.
❖ Female ward having 3 bed capacity, proper toilet facility, 2 IV stands, bed side locker, cooler,
proper facility of lights & ventilation.
❖ Store room closed in PHC Kohka, but it is used to store extra & essential material required in
PHC.
❖ Labour room includes 2 delivery table capacity, 1 radiant warmer, 1 suction apparatus, 2 O2
cylinder (1 manual & 1 electrical) 1 turbo O2 cylinder without maux regulator, 1 manual BP
apparatus, 1 OT light, 2 IV stand, 1 boiles, 1 trolly, 1 baby wt machine, 1 autocare Machine, with
full inverter, 1 needle cutter, proper BMW management, Hand Washing Area & toilet exhaust,
proper ventilation & lightning 1 functional thermometer is placed which work to maintain the
normal temperature between 25oC to 28oC of the room temperature of labour room
maintained.
7 trays are present in labour room in a sterile way
includes baby tray, emergency tray, delivery tray, episiotomy tray, medicine tray, PPIUCD tray,
MVA tray.
IN RIGHT SIDE FROM WAITING HALL: -
❖ Pharmacy room: - where proper and latest medicines are available before expiry day &
expiry date is mentioned clearly.
❖ Medical officer
❖ Assist medical offer room OPD is running
❖ Medical storage room (1)
❖ General store room (1)
❖ Male toilet (for staff)
❖ Female toilet (for staff)
❖ Vaccination storage room contains 1 ILR 1 deep freezer
