Organic chemist by training, with more than 13 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry, covering several
roles with growing responsibilities, in the field of drug substance development, New Chemical Entities (NCEs).

Currently working at Merck Group in Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control organization (CMC), part of the
Healthcare business and responsible for the development and supply of small molecule APIs, from Phase 0 to Phase III.

Proven experience, over more the 20 NCE projects from different therapeutic areas (oncology, immunology, immuno-
oncology), in process research and development, route scouting, scale up, as well as GMP API supply and Pilot Plant
manufacturing. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a deep knowledge of analytical techniques.
Highly developed communication, organization and decision-making abilities, wide experience in project and resource
management, dealing with complex, multicultural environments and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:
• Drug substance development expert, with project management responsibilities, regarding development of
synthetic processes, manufacturing and supply, as well as technology transfers for small molecules APIs, internally
at Merck or dealing with external CROs/CDMOs.
• Drug Master Files (DMFs) and drug substance dossier section preparation for Health Authorities.
• CMC-Leader for 1 oncology project, responsible to coordinate the full CMC team.
• Lab manager of a process chemistry laboratory unit with 4 direct reports, focused on PR&D and scale-up activities,
rout-scouting, impurities synthesis, thermal and safety evaluations, crystallization development and API solid state
properties investigations (using state-of-the-art technologies like FBRM, PVM, FT-IR probes, Crystal 16), High
Potent APIs, statistical Design of Experiments (DoE).

Associate Researcher (Dec 2006 – Mar 2014)

Responsibilities:
• As bench chemist in a process chemistry laboratory, responsible to assess, develop and scale-up synthetic
processes, focused to deliver and supply small molecule API batches for tox studies, formulation development and
early clinical development phase (i.e. First in Human studies). Broad experience in the laboratory environment as
well as in the pilot plant, gained over optimization of many small molecule projects, following the chemistry as
process expert from mg to multi-kilogram scale. Strong analytical knowledge and deep understanding of many
techniques (LC-MS, NMR, GS-HS, KF, XRPD, PSD, ICP-MS, etc.)
• Responsible to write e-notebooks, development reports, Master Batch Records, SOPs and technology transfer
protocols
• First interface with external suppliers, coordinating Starting Materials campaigns at CDMOs
