English Education Study Program, Tanjungpura University Pronunciation
1. Background:
Pronunciation is a way of saying or pronouncing a vocabulary in
English, Pronunciation is directly related to speaking, and therefore
pronunciation skills are very important for English department students.

through poetry. Poetry is pieces of creative writing that express deep
feeling or noble thought through rhythmical composition and beautiful
language (Kennedy, 2005).

poetry to teach speaking is able to familiarize students with the

and repetition method." Katchen, J. E. (1988). Mastering English
Pronunciation through Literature. “I believe that each teacher should use
the poems that s/he likes best and teach them in any way that gives
students maximum time speaking, varying the approach as necessary.”
