1. Purpose:
To describe a stepwise procedure for the Operation & Cleaning of Ink jet printer (Video Jet
1220).

2. Scope:
This SOP is applicable for Ink jet printer installed at packing area / foil pouch machine of Hudson
Pharma (Pvt.) Limited.

3. Responsibility:
3.1 Machine operator is responsible for execution.
3.2. Production Officer is responsible to follow the SOP.
3.3 Manager Production is accountable for SOP implementation.
3.4 QAM / designee is responsible for audit compliance.

4. Procedure:
4.1. Operating Procedure:
4.1.1. Check and ensure that the ink jet printer is cleaned.
4.1.2. Make sure that the electrical supply for the printer is available.
4.1.3. Press the main power switch (green push button) to turn ‘ON’ the printer.
4.1.4. Go to the password menu, select the enter password option, press enter key and
dial the password in 4 digits and again press the enter key.

4.2. How to start the printing:

4.2.1. Press the F1 key to start the jet start sequence.
4.2.2. During the sequence, the jet running icon flashes on the display. The sequence
takes place approximately one minute. When the sequence is completed, the
icon is turned ‘ON’ continuously.

4.3. How to create a message:

4.3.1. Open the message menu.
4.3.2. Select new message, the new message dialog box will be appears.

4.3.3. Enter a name for the message for e.g For first batch of Easehale for the month of
February 2018, press enter key and then write Batch No., Mfg. Date & Exp. Date as
follows.

4.3.4. Press shift + F1 to save the message.
4.3.5. Select a message before start the printing process.
4.3.6. Open the message menu and select the Select Print Message option.
4.3.7. Press the Up arrow key or the Down arrow key to highlight the required message.
4.3.8. Press the enter key to select the message for printing.
4.3.9. Open the message menu, select message parameters option and set the Select
Raster value to 34-high, Width value to 4.0, Product Delay and Character gap to 1.
Ensure that the Reverse and Invert option is On.
4.3.10. Open the Print menu option, go to Line Configuration option and set the Estimated
Line Speed to 100 fpm.
4.3.11. To start the printing process the following operations are required. The print must
be enabled. Open the print menu and select the print enable option.
4.3.12. 1st printed pouch must be checked and signed by machine operator, production
officer and verified by Q.A officer.
4.3.13. After verification from Q.A officer start the overprinting on pouch.
4.3.14. Continuously check the batch information and overprinting quality throughout the packing
operation.
4.3.15. Step # 4.3.12 should be repeated at the start of a shift operation and after a major
maintenance work on the ink jet printer.

4.4. How to stop the printing:

4.4.1. Disable the print to stop the printing. Open the print menu, the print control menu
appears. Select Disable.
4.4.2. During this sequence, the jet stop icon flashes on the display. The sequence
takes place approximately one minute to complete.

4.5. How to turn Off the printer:

4.5.1 Turn Off the printer after the jet shutdown cycle is complete.

4.5.2 Press the main power switch to turn off the printer.

4.6. Washing of Nozzles:

4.6.1. Wash the nozzle flush after 10-12 working days.
4.6.2. Open the system menu and select the nozzle flush.
4.6.3. Wash a nozzle with MEK solvent for 30-40s.
4.6.4. Dry the nozzle and then attach with a cover.
4.6.5. Clean the Ink jet printer with a clean duster on daily basis.

4.7. Frequency:
4.7.1. After 10-12 working days.
4.7.2. After the maintenance work.

4.8. Precautions:
4.8.1. Un-authorized and un-trained person is not allowed to operate and to clean the Ink jet
printer.
4.8.2. In case of any incident immediately inform to the area supervisor.
4.8.3. Prevent the Ink jet printer from water.
