“FORGET ME NOT: TED TALKS”

“It is in our hands, humans, to train our word to learn and remember, what we can learn
of” Refik Anadol. Art has always existed in a complex, symbiotic, and continually evolving
relationship with the technological capabilities of a culture.
Even at the introductory part of the video, I was already captured by the concept of it.
It was totally fresh from my sensor. Though I actually seen these types of moving abstract in the
television, yet I wasn’t aware of how it was done. The video highlighted about Imagination that
starts with a dream and hallucination. Human have the capability to imagine, as what Pablo
Picasso said, “Everything you can imagine is real”.
What can a mission do with someone else’s memories?
What does it mean to be in AI in 21st century?
A revolutionary thing is to start calibrating yourself of how capable you are of doing
things beyond your capacity. “Interconnected”, “Virtual Depictions of San Francisco”, “Machine
Hallucination: Nature Dreams”, “Wind of StandBul: Data Paintings”, “Wind of Boston”,
“Bosphorus: Data Sculpture”, “Latent Being”, “Seoul Haemong”, these are some of the artwork
shown in the video.
The speaker’s motivation of doing these things is contemplating of how memories
somehow affects someone’s interest. The Speaker uses Media Art into architecture to collide
virtual and physical rules. The vast application of media cannot be underestimated, however,
the cooperation of human, who has the instinct to operate must be on the line first. Like what
the speaker did, he uses media to produce a distinct type of art that reflects through virtual
with the sensual type of direct visual art.
Data Can only be knowledge when it experiences. Experience is the best teacher, it will
teach us to portray an extraordinary skill using these data in the computer would be accessible.
The ability to see patterns, make sense of data, and also create beautiful works of art is a skill.
Data visualizations have officially become common in every facet of our lives, even the art world.
“Imagination goes beyond just glass, metal, or concrete” it is one of the lines being spoke
on the video that left me mesmerized. Imagination do not just rely on our basic capacity to
think. Imagination embraces your entire human skill. It has the widest influence and connection
to your soul. Somehow like “Light”, whose travel millions per second, imagination travels beyond
the universe.

“…Instead, experimenting with a further most possibilities of emersion and ways of

augmenting our perception and build awareness”. The word experimenting means, exploring
new ideas usually suggests a more explicit desire to extend the boundaries of the art in terms of
materials or techniques. (Oxford, 2010). I believe that imagination is something uncontrollable
in a creative way. As long as you let yourself and mind to become versatile in this aspect,
anything is possible of creating a new style of art. As what the speaker wanted to tell us, it
beyond our wall.
Remembering and transmitting knowledge. The speaker wanted to use the machine
simulate unconscious and subconscious events, such as dreaming, remembering and
hallucinating. The art has so much contribution to human being, one of these is to reminisce
important events and memorable situations and a characteristic of a past. “Melting Memorize”,
one of the arts that was made, that visualizes the moment of remembering. The speaker made it
as a tribute to his late uncle.
To sum up the ideas, imagination plus application, on the other side, machine
intelligence plus human connection are the keys on breaking the wall of comfort zone that
would make a way in rebuilding bigger picture in the future.
