It is necessary that pavementsurfacesdo not developa
polishedsurfaceof low skiddingresistancewhen trafticked
and it is desirablethat pavementsurfacesbe testedfor
resistanceto polishing. However, such a test has not ye!
beenpublishedas a British Standardand some authorities
excludethe useof fine aggregates contalning significant
amountsof acid-solublematerial,some of which have been
found to givepoor polishingresistance.Such aggregates are
excludedonly becauseof their low resistanceto polishing
althoughthey haveno adverseeffects on any of the other
propettiesof the concre!e.
