Greetings and Blessings Master Chodack,

I am writing to you on a somewhat peculiar matter, we have amongst our Order an enigmatic
young monk, Adran Batta (or “Batta” for short, the high Japanese Elvish name for
Grasshopper); whom I think would greatly benefit from your teachings.

This monk was found nearly 100 years ago as a swaddling-infant in one of the many Watchers
Mounds that our Order maintains for weary travelers to camp in safety while in the wild. He was
curious from the beginning…. abandoned by the wood elves, a group which seldom turns away
their own and had a paper note written in Elvish fastened to him telling a tale of toddlers playing
and one which stole a toy belonging to infant Batta. Batta became so enraged that he somehow
manifested enough unknown power to freeze the ground where they played, resulting in
frostbite to the other child despite it being the height of summer. This act so frightened the
townsfolk that the mother was forced into abandoning the child to our Order for his and her well
being and safety.

Our Order dutifully raised, schooled and martially trained him in the monastic Way of the Open
Hand, however I sense this is not his true calling. He has fought some of our Order`s Ranking
Monks: Savahn, Mistress of the East Wind and Afrafa, Master of the Southern Wind, and while
he was soundly beaten by both in martial combat, both sensed an untapped reservoir of ki
energy within him, rivaling, if not surpassing their own. I to have sensed it and it is unlike
anything I have experienced in life or in my studies.

Having recently reached the age of Elven maturity, he will soon need to choose his own
monastic path in life. I believe he would do well to become more familiar your Order`s teachings
as well as learning a few real world lessons, testing himself under a different, but mastered-eye
before selecting his path.

While young Batta did not chose to join our Order himself, monastic life is all he has known. For
this, I fear that if I send him to travel alone to your Monastery, he may become overwhelmed
with trappings of the outside world (wine, women, song, and gold) in his youthful exuberance
and new found freedom. So, should you agree to take him in, kindly send escort, or notify me so
that I might do the same.

The Order of the Yellow Rose and I, personally, would be truly grateful for your assistance on
this matter.

Respectfully,
Master Shin, Disciple of St. Sollars
