Personal Growth

Key Text: Romans 8:29

29
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He
might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Introduction
Anything between Justification and Conformation to the image of Jesus Christ is GROWTH.
Anything that has life will experience growth.
Now let us see what are these things that make us grow.

G- o to God in prayer daily.

Psalm 27:4

One thing I have desired of the LORD,

That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD
All the days of my life,
To behold the  beauty of the LORD,
[b]

And to inquire in His temple.

Mark 3:14 - 14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send
them out to preach,

They have been with Jesus – Acts 4:13

13
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were
uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Anointing by association

Moses’ face shines after spending quality time with God in the mountain. 29 Now it was so,
when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’
hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face
shone while he talked with Him. 30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses,
behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 Then Moses called
to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses talked
with them. 32 Afterward all the children of Israel came near, and he gave them as
commandments all that the LORD had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. 33 And when Moses had
finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. 34 But whenever Moses went in before
the LORD to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come
out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded. 35 And whenever the
children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone, then Moses would
put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

We have to spend a lot of time with God to grow more in the image of God

Jesus is the expressed image of God. Hebrews 1:3

who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all
things by the word of His power, when He had  by Himself  purged  our sins, sat down at the

R- ead, meditate and study God’s Word.

Romans 12

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you  shall meditate in it day and
[a]

night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make
your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

2 Timothy 3:16
16
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for  instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be
[c]

complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

O- bedience to God’s Word

Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you  shall meditate in it day and
[a]

night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make
your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Revelation 22:14
14
Blessed are those who  do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of
[g]

life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

John 4:34
34
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

Matthew 6:31-34 What is your priority in life.

31
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall
we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you
need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these
things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry
about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

W- itness for Christ and take care of your fruit.

Matthew 28:19-20

New King James Version

19
Go [a]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [b]Amen.

T-estings, Trials and Challenges are being used by God to make us grow.
Bakit may testings pa kasi eh.
Testings should be expected in our Christian life.
Luke 22:31
31 [d]
And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as
wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned
to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

2Timothy 3:10-12
10
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love,
perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra
—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who
desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
1 Corinthians 10:13
13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who
will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also
make the way of escape, that you may be able to  bear it.
[d]

Just hang-on trials and problems are temporary.

Their purpose is for you to grow.

Holy Spirit-led life

He empowers, guides,convince,convicts

Romans 8: 14-17; 26
14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive
the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry
out, “Abba,  Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of
[e]

God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer
with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
26
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for
as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession  for us with groanings which cannot be
[g]

uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He
makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Galatians 5:22-25
22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [g]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no
law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we
live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
