Temperament Assessment Battery For Children (TABC) : P. Martin
Temperament Assessment Battery For Children (TABC) : P. Martin
FOR CHILDREN
(TABC)
Roy P. Martin
The TABC is designed to measure basic personality-behavioral dimen-
sions (temperaments) of children from 3 to 7 years of age.
Six temperamental variables (Activity, Adaptability, Approach/
Withdrawal, Intensity, Distractibility, and Persistence) are assessed to pro-
duce a description of the child and a comparison of the temperamental
characteristics of other children in the same age range. Three factor scores
are also produced: Emotionality, Persistence, and Sociability.
The TABC consists of three instruments:
Parent Form -48-item scale that describes the behavior of the child
at home, with attached scoring and profile sheets
Teacher Form - 48-item scale that reflects classroom behavior, with
attached scoring and profile sheets
Clinician Form -Questionnaire for use by professionals in an
individual child’s psychoeducational evaluation, with attached
profile sheet
Age Range: 3 to 7 years
Administration: Untimed, approximately 10 to 15 minutes
Scoring: Hand scored. Each form is based on a 7-point scale that ranges
from “hardly ever” to “almost always.” Raw scores are converted to
T scores and percentile equivalents for each temperament and factor
scale.
