EXT. STREET PAVEMENT. DAY

A young couple, DAVE and YVONNE, walk down the street hand in hand. On their individual ring fingers are matching rings, a plain silver band ring with the others name inscribed. As they share a laugh, Yvonne rests her head upon his shoulder. He smiles to himself in response. 2 INT. REHEARSAL STUDIO. DAY They enter a dance rehearsal studio. The walls are floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and bars are affixed at waist level along them. The two separate, each walking to opposite corners of the studio. As Yvonne stretches, Dave walks to the piano in the far corner of the room. There, he sits at the bench, lifting up the cover and removing the dust blanket laid over the keyboard, folding it up nicely and placing it by his side. He runs through lines of music while Yvonne goes through her routine. Then, both ready, they nod at each other. Dave starts to play. CUE: Regina Spektors "Samson" The rehearsal scene carries on for the entirety of the song, spliced in with the following scenes: 3 INT. KITCHEN. NIGHT 3 2

The two of them are cooking dinner, or rather trying to cook dinner. Yvonne opens the oven to release a billow of black smoke, engulfing the both of them. When it clears, it reveals a charred roast chicken, clearly unfit for consumption. Dave and Yvonne look at the chicken, then at each other, and laugh out heartily together. 4 INT. DINING ROOM. NIGHT. 4

The failed roast chicken sits lonely on the dining table as Dave and Yvonne tuck into a bucket of KFC. Yvonne feeds Dave a spoonful of mashed potato. 5 INT. DAVES BEDROOM. NIGHT. Dave, with a worried look on his face and the phone to his ear, paces around his room hurriedly. No answer, he stops his pacing, hangs up and redials again before resuming his movement. 5

INT. NIGHTCLUB. NIGHT.

Yvonnes phone lights up, vibrating across the table. However Yvonnes nowhere to pick the phone up, for she is on the dancefloor gyrating to the music with her fellow girlfriends. She downs an entire glass of champagne in one gulp. 7 EXT. NIGHTCLUB. NIGHT. 7

Dave exits a taxi at the clubs entrance to find Yvonne sprawled out on the road, laughing drunkenly and spewing nonsense loudly, to the amusement of the onlookers. He quickly grab her by the armpits, straining to life her up as she complains loudly, struggling to get out of his grip. Suddenly, she bends over, hand over mouth, running over to a nearby bush to vomit. Painfully aware of the onlookers bemused looks and whispered insults, Dave roughly takes Yvonnes arm and pushes her into the waiting taxi. 8 INT. APARTMENT. NIGHT 8

We find the couple in the midst of a fierce argument, taking place all over the apartment as they shout loudly at each other. Yvonne, clearly having enough of the quarrel, picks up a framed photo of them, in happier times, and flings it hard at Dave, who dodges just in time, the frame breaking into the pieces upon contact with the wall, the shattered glass pieces falling like snow onto the floor, and the paper photo floating gently down onto the top of the glass. Silence falls upon the scene, the two staring at the broken frame and photo on the ground. Dave, shocked by this act of violence, turns to looks at Yvonne, who, tears in her eyes, has lost all her anger, replaced by a sadness that suddenly make him feel guilty about shouting at her. Slowly, she turns and leaves, Dave standing there unwanting to stop her. 9 INT. APARTMENT. DAY. 9

Yvonne emerges from the bedroom with a trolley luggage in hand, walking quickly towards the door as Dave tries to keep pace with her, frantically truing to convince her to stay. When they reach the door, Yvonne stops. She turns around to face him, his face full of regret, and hope that shell return. But instead she removes the ring from her finger, taking his hand and placing the ring on his open palm, the (CONTINUED)

two rings touching each other as he receives it. He looks down at the ring, and back at her, a tear springing from his eye. She moves in for a final hug, then a final kiss, then tears away, grabbing the handle of her luggage and moving out of the door. Dave stands in the doorway, heartbroken, the rings in his hand, as the door closes on him. 10 INT. REHEARSAL STUDIO. DAY 10

As the musics last seconds play, both Dave and Yvonne complete their playing and dancing with an emphatic final gesture. As the last note sounds, Dave slams his hands into the keyboard, producing a loud crashing sound as hammers slam into strings. Yvonne leaps into the air, landing with grace, arms out with a flourish. The two look up, but instead of meeting each others eyes, they only see an empty spot where the other used to be. Sadly, the two quietly pack up their individual equipments - the piano and her ballerina bag. The lights are turned off, and the door slowly closes with a lone click as they individually leave.
