Act 1
INT. PODCAST ROOM – BLACK SCREEN

PODCAST MAN ONE

Hi everyone, welcome back to true story time with my
self-David and James. Today we are telling a true
story about a magician who lived in a small town in
England called reading. This magician was no
ordinary magician he was actually magic.

ACT 2

INT. House – Fades In

DAN aged 35 gets home from working at a kid’s birthday party

and is sad as it went awful and he is his failing side job.
Dan has always wanted to be magician but has just awful at it
he walks into his house and sits down with
his WIFE at the table in the kitchen.

WIFE
How was that kids’ birthday party? Did it go well?
(Pause) DAN?
DAN
No not at all his parents even refused to pay me
they said I was too bad and not even worth a penny.

WIFE
Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.

DAN
I do have an idea though, an amazing one .I want to
make the first ever person ever to disappear via
 actual magic in front of a stage of thousands on
BGT.

Wife
Dan. No. I’m not letting you humiliate
yourself like that. Also, you cannot exactly do magic
so all of this will be impossible.

ACT 3
EXT. PARK OUTSIDE – SUN SET

Dan is sad playing with a deck of cards all alone.

ACT 4

INT. BATHROOM- NIGHT

Dan’s washing his face (getting ready for bed). Bend down over
the sink and a figure appears behind him. He spots it briefly
but then it disappears. He thinks it was probably his wife but
she is not there so he looks for her around the house. When he
comes back into the bedroom she is standing there.

Dan
Were you there the whole time? Were you standing
behind me 10 minutes ago?

Wife
No, I literally only just got here.

ACT 5

INT. BEDROOM. NIGHT

Dan in bed with his wife. The clock days 01:15. His wife is
asleep but Dan is struggling to sleep. We see him eventually
fall asleep.

ACT 6
INT. DANS HEAD. WOODS. NIGHT

Action:
We see Dan's dream. He is approached by a person (it looks
like the figure that appeared behind him in the bathroom)

MYSTERIOUS FIGURE

I have your answer

DAN

(Shouting): What answer?

MYSTERIOUS FIGURE

The answer you are looking for

DAN

I don’t understand. Who are you? What answer?

MYSTERIOUS FIGURE

You need to find the 304th word in your wife’s diary.

Repeat that in your head whilst holding an object

DAN
Why?

MYSTERIOUS FIGURE
It’s your answer

The mysterious figure disappears.

Fades out

ACT 7

INT. BEDROOM. NIGHT

Dan wakes up in his bed I. the middle of this bed with his
sleeping wife next to him.

DAN
Helene wake up! Wake up now!
 WIFE

What Dan. This better not be one of your magic

things again.
DAN

Where is your diary? I really need it. I need to

find the 304th word. It was in my dream.

WIFE

Just because it was in your room does not mean I’ll

let you go and read my diary and wake me up when I was
clearly fast asleep. But fine it’s in the bottom draw
down beside the bed.

DAN

Thank you!

Dan looks for the 304th word.

Dan leaves and goes downstairs to practise.

Dan picks up a candle and concentrates, repeating a word in

his head (we do not hear the word) expecting the candle to
disappear, but nothing happens.

Dan goes back upstairs. His wife is now asleep. He grabs the
diary again and realises that he has mis-counted and his wife
had written “Good Luck” at the front of the diary. (We don’t
see the 304th word)

Dan walks back down the stairs and grabs the candle. Again, he
repeats the word in his head whilst holding the candle (we do
not hear the word). We suddenly hear a countdown from 6 to 1
and then the candle disappears.

Dan jumps up and starts shouting excitedly. He runs up the

stairs.

DAN
I did. It worked. It bloody worked

He runs into the bedroom but his wife is not there. He walks
around trying to find her but she is nowhere to be seen. He
eventually goes back into the bedroom and she is asleep in
bed.

DAN

Wake up. I did it. (Whispering) I did it

His wife does not wake up so Dan goes back down the stairs and
starts picks up a book. We see him use the same technique to
try and make it disappear. The countdown starts on 6 and we
then see his wife in the background watching.

ACT 8

INT-DAY-DAN’S HOUSE

Dan walks into the house with a man (younger and taller than
Dan). He is stumbling and appears drunk. Dan’s wife is sitting
on the sofa.

DAN
(Slurring) This is umm. This is somebody I met in
the pub and you will never guess what…you won’t guess
what. He wants me to disappear him. Disappear him? He
wants me to make him disappear. We can film it as the
Talents Got Britain. Britain Got Talent.

HELENE:

You do realise you can’t actually make anything

reappear. Does he realise that.

DAN

Yes. Helene. Of course, he realises that small bit

Fade to black

ACT 9

INT-DAY-DAN’S HOUSE

Fade in

Dan is standing above the man who is sitting in a chair. There

is a camera facing Dan and the man with the wife holding the
camera. It then switches to behind Dan and the man with the
wife not visible and this time it’s just a tripod on its own.
Lastly going back to the first angle again but this time still
no wife and just a tripod with the filming footage on the
phone visible to show that what is actually seen is not
actually happening.
 DAN

What I about to attempt today has never been seen

before in the history of humankind. Many have tried to
fool you with acts of fake magic, pretending to make
objects, animals, or people disappear, but this. Well,
this is real. I will make this man really disappear in
front of your very eyes. No tricks. No illusions. Real
magic.

Dan put his hands on the man’s head and closes his eyes. We
hear the counter again. This time starting from 25. It counts
down to 15 when Helene jumps in, grabs Dan’s hands and tries
to pull them off the man.

HELENE

No. No. You can’t do it. Stop

DAN
I can’t move my hands. I can’t move my hands

The counter is counting down 10. 9. 8. 7

DAN
Oh my God!

Helene

No.

The counter is counting down 6. 5. 4

DAN
I’m sorry.

The counter is counting down 3. 2. 1

The man and Helene both disappear. Dan starts screaming and
puts his hands to his head. The counter then starts to
countdown again from 25. 24. 23. 23. 21..down to 15

Then fade to black.

ACT 10

INT. PODCAST ROOM

PODCAST 2

OK, so Dan made his wife and a random drunk guy

disappear then he made himself disappear as well?

PODCAST 1

Well this is where it gets weirder.

Even weirder!

Podcast 1

So, Dan worked as an accountant for some electrical

company and he was ultra-professional, one of those guys
that never had a day off - ever, so when he hadn't turned
up for work in a few days and his manager couldn't get
hold of him she called the police

PODCAST 2

Is this going freak me out?

PODCAST 1

Maybe. So, the police go round his house and

probably break down the door with one of those door
smasher things. Anyway, they step into the house and the
first thing they notice is that obvious things seemed to
missing - like there is no dining room table, only
chairs, picture hooks but no pictures - that sort of
thing. Then they find a phone and on the phone is footage
of Dan performing his BGT audition, but the drunken guy
and his wife aren't there. It is just Dan on his own
pretending to make the guy disappear. He is holding his
hands above like thin air

PODCAST 2

What! That’s mental. But did he make himself

disappear

PODCAST 1

I don't know. The footage just cut out after he held

his hands to his head. Just cut to black.

My head messed now.

That's not the end of it. Remember the diary?

I remember

The police find that and in the entries six months

before any of this shit has even happened, his wife wrote
about how Dan was suddenly able to make stuff disappear
and she wrote about how she brought some drunken man back
to the house and tried to make him disappear, but she
stopped him right at the last second.

So, he didn't make anybody disappear?

PODCAST 1

Well the very next diary entry, written in

completely different writing was. Written in Dan’s
writing was "I think I killed my wife. I made her
disappear"

 He killed her!

PODCAST 1

I don't know. She's never been found, but what we do

know is that Dan then continued to write in the diary for
six months... pretending to be his wife, pretending life
was normal, pretending Dan and Helen were the perfect
couple...when in reality Helen wasn't even there. She had
already gone.

I've got a thousand questions, but strangely the
first one that has popped into my head is. What was the
304th word in the diary?
