Earthquake shook city of Jayapura, Papua.


Tuesday, February 28, 2023's earthquake once more shook Indonesia. Mother Earth had one
earthquake up till 19:15 WIB. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG)
reported that the earthquake occurred at 12.35 WIB in the City of Jayapura, Papua Province. Recent
inclement weather was the cause of the earthquake. The goverment advises citizens to seek immediate
protection and avoid panicking.
Lindu was reported by the BMKG to be at coordinates 2.5 "The epicenter was on land 4 kilometers
northwest of Jayapura City," said BMKG through its official website www.bmkg.go.id. According to
the BMKG report, the Lindu has a magnitude of 2.5 and a depth of 10 kilometers. BMKG said the
earthquake was felt in Jayapura City. Previously, on Monday 27 February 2023, there were two
earthquakes that again shook a number of regions in Indonesia.
As of 22.45 WIB, the earthquake was reported by Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics
(BMKG) to have occurred in Jayapura Regency, Papua and Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. When
the first earthquake shook Jayapura with a magnitude of 2.4, Jayapura City also felt the shaking. The
earthquake occurred at 04.23 WIB. "The epicenter was on land 3 km northwest of Jayapura City," the
BMKG said on its official website, Monday. The location of the earthquake was located at the
coordinates of 2.52 South Latitude with the hurricane at a depth of 10 kilometers. The next earthquake
occurred in Sigi Regency. According to BMKG records, the earthquake occurred at 08.26 WIB with a
magnitude of 5.5.
