ICED TEA AND CIKGU SYED

I live a simple life as an introvert at a boarding school. I don’t actually have a lot of
friends and it is quite boring. My life changed a little bit until I met a teacher that teaches
me in class. He teaches in my school, SAKTI, for quite a long time. Cikgu Syed is a
white haired man that is sweet and kind to all of us.

I first met him when I was in form 1. He always invited us to go to the computer lab.
Everytime we completed our assignments that he gave us, he would let us to take a
chromebook from the rack and play whatever we wanted. Don’t judge a book by its
cover, an idiom that suits well with cikgu Syed. We all thought that he is just an old man
that teaches science. One of our friends decided to quietly open a computer and start
playing League Of Legend. Suddenly, the character in the game started to move by
itself. He shouted ‘’What is happening to my computer’’ Little did he know, cikgu Syed
had hacked the computer that he was playing. What a legend.

I often see Cikgu Syed selling ice tea in the afternoon every Monday and Thursday. My
friend, Zulkarnain will always be helping him as a volunteer to sell it to the students. I
thought to myself, ‘’ I should also help to get money’’. It changed my boring life to
become more extraordinary and different from everybody else. I made friends with
Cikgu Syed’s sons and daughter. They are quite a cheerful family. Hearing someone
that loves to talk is very enjoyable. I heard a lot of stories from them and made a few
friends.

After 3 years of working with them, they decided to throw a small party in the cafeteria.
He bought several boxes of pizza and made sirap bandung for me and my business
partner friends to eat. We ate together and had the time of our lives. We made a bunch
of memories together. Even thought we, as students, are stubborn and quite stupid, he
will never get triggered easily. Our memories together will always be in my heart.
