Hi Sam,

Thanks for your interest in my classes. You asked me about my English classes and I’ll tell
you all about them. They are divided into four separate subtopics: literature, reading ,
speaking and common cultural knowledge for about Britain. We do different types of various
exercises in each. For instance, in my literature subtopic we study literature pieces such as
Beowulf in detail. My favourite one is oral communication, where we have a discussion on a
different topic every class each class introduces a new topic for discussion. The teacher
expects us to give our opinion every time and defend our answer by giving providing
examples. My least favourite subtopic is common cultural knowledge because we learn
about Britain’s geography and as you know my memory isn’t great and my geography skills
are terrible. Moreover, my final results in the subtopic aren’t the highest but I am getting
better at it. The reading fragment is pleasant and enjoyable. We are currently focused on a
book called ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wild and its a must read. Overall, Taking
this class is a great opportunity for me to improve my English skills.

Can’t wait to hear from you again.

Speak soon,
kiril

4 You have answered all questions but you

have briefly mentioned whether you are
learning a lot. You have said that you are
getting better and that your grades are low in
the geography part but I don’t think this
really answers the question.

Communicative Achievement

4 Make sure you have an opening statement –

thanks for your email or a similar phrase.
Be specific when using references – each
what?
Provide clear ideas – in your case what is
the difference between the literature
subtopic and the reading one?

Organisation
3 Make sure you have two body paragraphs.
You have to answer three distinct questions
which means that you need at least 2 body
paragraphs.
Make sure that you don't discuss the same
ideas at the beginning and the end of the
paragraph (or in two different paragraphs for
that matter). You could have divided your
text in two paragraphs with the first one

is some negative thing against which you are
being protected) and support / back up.
