Instructions For Reloading Software Video Driver In Model

P90*D, P91*G, and P92*L (and later styles) Processors
A combination of improvements in processor speed, new video cards and the associated drivers
have lead to occasional video driver installation problems with the R710/T610/T710 servers and
the T3500 workstations when using the Matrox M9120 Dual or Quad head video card (i.e.,
Invensys PCI card P0924FH, kit P0924EU, P90/P91 all "video head" selections, or P92*L+ "video
head" selections 7 thru J). The processor that you have was properly configured and verified
prior to leaving the IA Factory. If, for any reason, the system is re-ghosted or reloaded, you could
experience a station “hang-up” caused by the CPU usage going to 100 percent, during the Matrox
video driver installation. To prevent this situation it is recommended that the older driver, to be
loaded from the included CDROM (Matrox P/N 20108), be installed first. Once done, the video
driver can be updated to the newer version included on the operating system image. To
accomplish this, please perform the following instructions.

To load the older driver from the CDROM:

1. Insert the Matrox M-Series optical media, included for the Matrox M9120 card and found in the Dell
server/workstation shipping carton, into the system optical drive.

2. The Matrox Display Driver Installation wizard will automatically open. Click Next from the opening
screen.

3. Continue through the wizard, selecting Next, accepting the defaults. A “Hardware Installation
Warning” will appear stating that the device has not passed logo testing, click Continue Anyway.

4. The wizard will complete the driver and application installation.

5. At the last screen select Finish but DO NOT reboot the system. (Note: rebooting does not cause
additional complication to this process, only the loss of time)

To update to the newer driver version:

6. Navigate to C:\drivers\Matrox_Video and run xp2k_207_01_054_se_u_whql.exe. Press Enter.

7. The Winzip Self Extractor display appears. See Figure 1. Click Unzip.
