ANTI-TOBACCO DAY

Every year on May 31st, World Tobacco Day is commemorated to increase public awareness of the negative impact that
tobacco use has on health and to support measures that will effectively reduce tobacco use. The World Health
Organization (WHO) initiated the day in 1987 to raise awareness of the global tobacco epidemic and the needless deaths
and illnesses it causes. World Tobacco Day serves as a reminder that smoking poses a serious threat to public health and
that coordinated efforts are needed to reduce its effects on people and societies around the world.

This year’s theme is " We Need Food, Not Tobacco" and with this admirable goal in mind, the NSS Wing of KSOM
appeals to everyone to commit to fighting against tobacco and make a difference in the lives of those affected by this
epidemic. Together, we can create a healthier, smoke-free world for ourselves and future generations.
