Part One: A-Reading Comprehension: 7 pts

Charity
Charity is a generous feeling towards people in need. The term
“charity” also refers to an organization which provides help to the
needy. The oldest charity organization in Algeria is “the Red
Crescent”. In this organization young people have always played an
active role as well as in other charities like “Ness El Khir” , “El
Qoloub Arrahima”…and so on.
The young Algerian citizens are getting more and more involved in
charity actions; after natural disasters, during the holy month of
Ramadan and throughout the year. This commitment towards their community makes them
become engaged citizens capable to understand people’s sufferings. They make their best to solve
community problems like poverty, violence, lack of school transport in some areas…etc
In other countries, youth charities are very active too; “The British charity Centrepoint” helps the
homeless young people all over the world to succeed in their life. Some others organize concerts
and exhibitions to help the poor, the orphans and the handicapped.
All this goes to show the importance of national solidarity and the role of youth charity in
promoting values and citizenship.
