Ripple Effect is an extended symmetry pattern in the alternating hexagons and
triangles tiling, which means that it has two different hexagon twists and two different
triangle twists.
Start with a closed hexagon in the center (just like the crease pattern) on whatever
size grid you like. I recommend trying a 16-fold grid to get the idea first, then a 48-
fold grid to get a round of repeats of the central structure with a nice border outside
of the outer ring of open hexagon twists. The big finished piece used a 144-fold grid,
which I do not recommend unless you plan to dedicate a whole week to the project.
Whatever grid you choose, the next step is crucial: DO NOT precrease the crease
pattern onto the paper. Instead, start folding in the center and follow the order of
twists as shown in the video linked in the QR code, with two triangles set up for each
hexagon.
