Q.1)
A certain city has an area of 1,200 square kilometers and is covered by a
cellular system using a seven-cell reuse pattern. Each cell has a radius of
4 kilometers and the city is allocated 40 MHz of spectrum with a full
duplex channel bandwidth of 50 kHz. Assume a GOS of 2% for an Erlang
B system is specified. Each user receives on average 2 call per hour and
each call last 2 minutes. Compute:

(a) the number of cells in the service area,

(b) the number of channels per cell,
(c) traffic intensity of each cell,
(d) maximum carried traffic,
(e) total number of users that can be served for 2% GOS,
(f) number of users after 120 sectoring
(g) number of mobiles per unique channel
(h) the theoretical maximum number of users that could be served at
one time by the system.
(i) Find the average delay for the calls in the queued system.
Note:
p[delay > t] = p[delay > 0] . exp (− (C −A)t /H )

Q.2)
a) What is the minimum N that provides SIR ≥ 15 dB due to sectoring a
square cell into 90 degree sectoring? Let path loss exponent n=3.and the
interference is due to the first-tier of co-channel cells.

b) If a cellular system consists of rectangle cells each with area 100×200

m2 and all of them are aligned horizontally. Find SIR due to the first-
tier of co-channel cells for a user standing in the cell corner at point A in
the figure below. Let cluster size N=3 and path loss exponent n=4.
